This is my hometown! I thought I knew a lot about the history of this town, but this one is a pleasant surprise! where did you find it?

eta: Pearson air field is still in use today.

interesting. upon some simple research, it looks like this was 'photoshopped' probably not by you, or your source, probably done before photoshop existed. it's a composite of Pearson and Big Chief. most sources cite THE Big Chief Root Beer Stand as being in Kansas City. There being only one. And if you look at those pictures, you can see it is the exact same pose, same clothing, etc of the Vancouver one. http://www.museumsyndicate.com/item.php?item=51299

you can also see it's obvious now, just to the left of the left bench and girl, the gravel just drops off awkwardy where in the Kansas City photos the gravel is farther out, as if to park a vehicle closer to the stand.

I think we've been had!

Wow, this is really amazing! Wonder why someone decided to Photoshop the Kansas city Big Chief and move it to Vancouver, Washington? 'tis a mystery.

You're right. We've been had. I had no idea this photo had been manipulated. My apologies.

A friend who is an ace researcher has found the original photo of Pearson Field from 1926. It is from the book Pearson Field: Pioneering Aviation in Vancouver and Portland by Bill Alley.
