this is creepy, and i still don't understand the reason why anyone would take such kind of pictures.

alot of times it was the only pic one would of their loves ones...the baby w her eyes is to much..the lasst little gurl is so lovely... Goddess bless them all...i also want to know why only one set pf parents looks upset???

You only saw one set of parents looking upset? They all looked sad, in various stages of grief to me. Except the guy with his chin on his fist - that one struck me as odd. It could be that he just dealt with his grief very differently.

I agree with the OP that this is creepy but at the same time, sad as this may have been the only photo the parents of the child could have had. :(

Post-mortem photography was commonplace in the Victorian Era. Particularly where it concerned children or infants since the mortality rate was much higher for them then. In many cases, due to the fact that it was expensive, it was the only portrait of the child or infant the family had.

That bottom one is beautiful and sad.
