Our house was built in 1908 and I never cease to be amazed, amused, and generally charmed by photos from that year. I look around me and wonder about the Kaizer family who lived here then and wonder how they and their home must have looked.

It was a stylish decade, I think. Plenty of Victorian decoration still in evidence, but with sharper, more minimalist 20th century wind blowing through it.

Oh yea I like the hats in these old photos. The brims got wider in the 1910s. Here are a few other hats from my collection......
