From Gramma's Pie Recipe Stash

A recipe written in pencil from...about 50 years ago?  (thanks, Gramma)
Don't know the origination, sorry! :(

Oatmeal Pie

2 unbaked 8" pie shells,

Mix:
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup dark Karo
1 1/4 cup quick-cook oatmeal
3 beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 butter melted (I don't know if this means half a cup or half a stick!)

Kind-of like a "chess Pie" or something. Never quite understood the purpose of pies filled with baking ingredients.

I'm not sure what there is to understand... It's just a simple recipe for an ice-box pie. What is chess pie? Never heard of it...

Looking at a recipe I found here, I wouldn't be surprised if grandmas recipe was actually calling for a 1/2 lb of butter (two sticks). Don't know when I'll get a chance, but I am going to make this, trying it with that quantity.

I'm not all that big a fan of raisins... I mean, I like trail mix, cinnamon raisin toast is nice, but this just sounds delicious. I can't wait to try the recipe!
