I have that same cookbook...I don't know whether the ingredients are different now than back in the 50s...but certain recipes just don't turn out the same from that cookbook. I tried making waffles once and they were so tough to chew.
I agree! the pancake recipe from Betty Crocker is the best. OH and if you try to look up a pancake recipe on Betty Crocker's website...it tells you to use bisquick and water! nooooooooo!
Definitely going to try this. I'll have to use my cast iron skillets that belonged to my Grandmother. I think she got them back in the 40's or 50's as well. They are old enough that I have to re-season them every once in a while.
