They mention "motor rugs" in the ad. My wife and I thought maybe those "motor rugs" were rugs for cars. I did a search online and found a mention of "motor rugs" that confirmed our hypothesis.
The mention was in an issue of a magazine called "The Horseless Age" published in 1909. Cars propelled by mechanical engines were new enough back then that horses were still the standard against which other modes of locomotion were evaluated. One of the articles in came across was debating whether "fire wagons" propelled by horses were more reliable than those propelled by mechanical engines.
