So I know those are 1937 prices, but still, I dream of having a silver service and full china for daily/fancy person use, and wanted to know what modern-day prices would be for these items. Here we go...

SILVER SERVICE

Sterling silver sauce bowl: $15.50 then, $267.30 now
Ladle: $4.00 then, $68.98 now
Compotier: $39.00 then, $672.56 now
Kettle/Stand/Lamp: $215.00 then, $3707.71 now
Teapot: $90.00 then, $1552.06 now
Sugar bowl: $57.00 then, $982.97 now
Cream pitcher: $32.00 then, $551.84 now
22" tea tray (expensive!): $340.00 then, $5863.35 now... that's some damn spendy tea service, ye gods.
Traveling clock: $49.00 then, $845.01 now
Minton China plates, per dozen: $48.00 then, $827.77 now.

Now I'm not anything like well versed on the prices of silver, so won't comment-- but the modern price for the china plates (and only the plates, no place setting package) is well in line with costs for higher-end china, if at the lower spread of that.

GLASSWARE

Claret, per dozen: $10.00 then, $172.45 now, a reasonable price for ( ... )
