From 1976. If you were around then, remember how almost EVERYTHING got in on the red, white, and blue act? I guess if you didn't, you weren't American or something.

Best darned shill in the history of the U.S. Red-white-and-blue all year long and the Freedom Train made its way around the country (my family and I took a tour).

Not only was it a corporate cash grab, I do think the profusion of patriotic fervor everywhere was a reaction to years of America being trashed. Apparently the U.S. couldn't do anything right at home or abroad, and some people got sick of it and decided to just revel in a celebration.

My brother's bedroom had red, white, and blue wallpaper, and my father hung it on July 4, 1976.
