Gay Equality Day in Vintage Ads tomorrow!!
I've copied my post from last night and am adding a bit. LJ is still having problems today and the post screen is all wonky.
If you've had issues with LJ today (it's been offline a few times for me today, yes even still today--Wednesday) it is more than likely due to what the Russian lower house of parliament did today. Basically they passed a bill that children are not to be told about homosexuality and gays are to be further stigmatized. They have no doubt it will pass the upper house of parliament and be signed by Putin. Protesters were rounded up and arrested. Here's a link to an article on the Washington Post website if you haven't heard about this yet. And today, Wednesday, there have been massive demonstrations in Russia against Putin.
That's the MAIN impetus for our first Gay Equality Day, though I've wanted to have one for awhile---and it has been suggested before too. I think we are going to do this once a month from now on. I can't really set a day because I will be on major troll patrol and I need to be inside and home all that day. It's safe to say though, it'll be mid-month and I will always give a few days notice---once I check the weather and my schedule (which uh, is pretty void aside from yard work and cross stitching). I just need to make sure it's a day I will be inside all day!
And there is ZERO TOLERANCE for INTOLERANCE. There have been some horrible homophobic comments posted before--hence why I will be manning the decks all day on troll patrol--and you will be banned IMMEDIATELY if you post any hate or intolerance.
So yes, ads that are well, gay. Ads that have gay subtext. If you have ads that are NSFW, please put them behind a cut, as is always a rule here.
If there's a way to spread word of this event in other communities, please do! All day Thursday!! GAY EQUALITY DAY!! Someone messaged me and directed me to the LJ FAQ about using the LJ share post feature. I have tried and tried to get the code to work in this post and it will not! I even tried it on my own LJ and it won't work there either!! So if YOU can get this reposted that would be great!!!
Also, I have already gotten some hateful comments and messages. They have been deleted and those people banned. IF your post tomorrow gets a hateful comment, please don't reply, and if you are the poster, please copy it---make sure you get the user name---and send it to me misstiaemail@yahoo.com with vintage ads in the subject line and then delete it. Right now I can't even read comments in other people's posts due to LJ's wonkiness!! If you SEE a hateful comment tomorrow and it's not your post, please contact me immediately and don't respond! Email me; contact me on facebook or if you are a regular here and want my phone #, message me and I'll give it to you. With LJ's issues I might not be able to see things at times tomorrow whereas others might; but I'm still going forward with this tomorrow!
ETA I guess in a way to try to circumvent being banned here, some people have replied to some of my very old comments on other LJs about this event, how I should mind my own country's business, leave Russia alone and then they descend into homophobic comments. I've gotten several messages basically saying I shouldn't do this in a threatening way. Such things only further my resolve that this is the right thing to do!!! I just want members to know what you might face if you post tomorrow---but I do hope you post and participate and ignore the hate!!!
