This is *not* in response to Clapet's post, she still has no idea what he's doing

Hm. With all this talk of food shortages, I wonder how long before you all start eating each other. How will we be deciding who gets eaten first, anyway? Skin color? Species? Inmates first? A combination of all three?

I don't think anybody's that desperate just yet.

Of course not, this is just idle curiosity about how long it will take.

Taking bets, are you?

It's the second day! Honestly, hasn't anyone got the wherewithal to not panic?

Who said I'm panicking?

Then you're inciting panic. People on the menu? You do realise you're on a ship where someone might consider that an invitation?

That's hardly surprising.

One would assume the better-fed, wouldn't one?

A logical choice, but not necessarily the one that would be taken. People like to feel superior to their food, after all.

[As far as he knows humans are generally the prey animals in these situations.] As of now, we're still preserving the food stocks. The cooks can prolong the amount of food by using it in stews, which is what I believe they're doing.

[He's not going to mention that the next step would probably be cooking pets, who might be starving anyway. It's too bad for them that they didn't disappear with the rest of the stuff. But it would be idiocy to resort to eating people first.] There are people on board who have survived with less for longer without eating people or even considering it. They'll help produce viable alternatives.

Oh, I've survived on less for longer, but I don't plan to eat others. Where I come from, it's not unheard of for people to eat what could once talk back. Not since the Wizard took over, anyway.

We would have to be in pretty piss poor straights before sentient beings came first on the average Barge menu. That may differ for a few individuals that have them as their preference, but in general so long as we remain calm, don't waste energy, and conduct our supplies carefully we should have a week or more to work with.

[His stomach is panging a bit even as he says this, because he's been doing things like making firewood and defensive stuff.] Is all of your magic gone?

I can be of no help to you.
