I've wanted them reissued for years, doubly so since we first saw these guys in 2004 (before they got pushed back and forth). And out of all the later era combiners, the Seacons are the only ones with this overall singular aesthetic. They drew on a shared pool of colours, and shared a unified "gimmick".
Mmm. Looks like someone picked colors which would look OK on the combined mode on the front of the box, but which resulted in some rather clashy sea-creature modes.
I'm liking the darker colors of the set, but the white isn't working well with the orange for the overall aesthetic, and the yellow cannons just look odd in anything other than Piranacon mode.
Change the white for that blue-grey of the other bodies, maybe make the chest-fins silver again. The cannons... I dunno. Blue-grey works for them as well. Black would be out of place, I think.
Yeah, it's the white and orange guys who sort of stand out out of nowhere. Though I'm not sure what they're going to with the bright yellow on the chest/shield/back thingy either. Maybe they thought using the same colours over the whole set was a bad idea for some reason, though oddly it seems to be the lack of uniformity making many people's problems with them.
I've always really wanted a set of Seacons. I like the look, I like the colours, I like that they're a targetcombinermaster... but I hate these colours. I'm holding out hope that Takara do a reissue set - and lets face it, with what they're putting out at the moment, I doubt I'll have to wait long.
