Program Management Lesson 001

Never ever write a 100 line email to your customers asking them if they wanted features X, Y and Z . They generally respond with a one-word reply. Worse, their email would be empty with the subject line reading:

YES [Was: Hey customer, do you need these features ?] It is like showing kids a bag of candies and asking them if they wanted it. ( Read more... )

So either they don't really care , or they don't really believe you can give them all of those !

Or they don't know what you are giving them.
(Ask a communications person, get a communications answer :P)

OR a customer can be characterized as "greedy", who wants everything that you have to offer.
OR
The customer is incapable of deciding what is truly important for the business and hence thinks everything is required
OR
The offerings are so good, that the customer can't afford to say "No"

I would like to think that in my case it was the last one :P

You can deliver your product saying that it has all the features..They won't bother to check it for quite sometime..If they say its not working, raise a bug and fix it one by one :)

you write one word or 100 or a thousand, sweet heart. The reply is "Say what now?"" ( It means they do not understand one word of it and want to show off that they are actively listening when they may actually be in a session of some sort). Guess who is this and I will definitely treat you (all of us included) honey.

Your IP traces back to HP in the US. I am not sure I know anybody there. Need some clues here.

Btw, who did you mean by "all of us" ? Do we have friends in common ?
