[The scene is fairly still, Carmen motionless, until she draws a sudden deep breath. Her breathing becomes regular after a few more intakes. She shakes her head, blinking her eyes open, and then blinking them again.]

[In the chair next to the bed, Saul stirs a little but doesn't wake up. He's badly bloodied and wounded and sleeping soundly rather than dozing; from the way he's curled up in the chair, it's clear that he'd been sitting there for a while and had prepared himself to keep on sitting there for as long as he had to.]

[Carmen shifts to sit on the side of the bed, but finds it a little more complicated than normal, moving clumsily. She frowns, raising a hand to her face, and studying him. That he was here, asleep, suggested worry. But why would... Realization dawned.]

I did not fall asleep.

[Standing shakily, Carmen placed a hand on his shoulder. She would not shake, in case he needed the rest.]

[As might be expected, her touch triggers a soldier's in-built habits. Saul grabs her wrist and has a hand at her throat before his eyes fully open. Once he realizes what is happening, though, he backs off, with a wide smile.]

[Carmen doesn't flinch as he moved, though the instinct was there. That change goes on the list of things to figure out as well, though perhaps the reason is before her - why would someone keep watch while she was vulnerable only to harm her later? She responds to the smile, returning it.]

I do. Or, I believe I do.

[The smile is wry now as she leans back against the bed. She raises her hand to her left eye, touching it carefully. There is risk in telling him what she's realizing, but it is less than it might have been. They may all leave, but silence would not serve her.]

My price, if I am reading the signs correctly, is not so subtle. I cannot see out of my left eye. Perhaps it is commentary.

[Carmen smiles wryly, though she's looking into the PCD a bit sideways. But she's checked the network, and saw Saul's post, so she knows that already a portion of the group is known. Oh well. She didn't want to be unknown for too long.]

I was nearly out of the Inner City when a guard saw me and started shooting. I took a few bullets to my legs. I just had enough power in my jet pack to get myself out of there before the guard could get anymore shots in. I'll be stuck in this thing for a while but...[he pauses for a moment]...it could have been a lot worse.

Many of the inner city's security robots have escaped into the Safezone, causing quite a bit of chaos.

Other than that, all information I have obtained has been from the network.
