Weird drabble meme

From entropy_house, but mutated so I get a chance at requesting a drabble too, if I haven't already.
  1. I'll write a drabble (100 words) using up to three Blake's 7 characters of your choice, in a location of your choice, with an object of your choice.
  2. You can be as weird as you like in your choices of location and object.
  3. Reciprocate by putting this meme in your ( Read more... )

kalypso_v may request one for free

...but may not get it! And it isn't even my birthday any more, so maybe I can't even request today.

But I've been thinking about a piece my father wrote about a play entirely cast with characters mentioned in Shakespeare who never actually appear on stage. So I was wondering about using three characters who never appear in Blake's 7, though I think I'll cheat slightly and use one who appears briefly without actually starting a conversation.

Lurgen, Valeria of Prim, and Tando. Somewhere dark (so you needn't worry about what they look like). With an embroidered emblem (I opened a dictionary at random there, and pulled out two words).

OK, here you are:

The planet had appealed to Lurgen. It sounded quiet and safe, but Prim was a misnomer. Here he was, at a party held by a local aristocrat, one Valeria, an aging predator. And one of the other guests, an unshaven brute, was a bounty hunter. Lurgen, his hand over the embroidered Federation emblem on his chest, sidled over to the lights and switched them off. There were delighted shrieks and giggles, then he felt hands stroke his chest, lingering on the emblem, and then his face. He froze.

"Oh, damn, you're the boring doctor. I want that dangerous man, Tando."

You pulled it off beautifully! I hope she got him! And I wonder if Lurgen decided the Goths were a quiet and relaxing change.

Thanks! Yes, she did, and Tando wasn't seen for days. When he finally reappeared, he looked like limp spaghetti and headed straight for Gauda Prime for a bit of therapeutic hunting.

Lurgen bought a second-hand (and very used) Goth slave called Rod from Valeria (his name had appealed to her in the Domo markets a few years before) as bodyguard, ditched the Fed uniform, although it had commanded a certain amount of fear and respect, and went back to Rod's homeworld because it sounded romantic and Rod said he was a prince. He was, but the life wasn't as romantically Amagon as Lurgen had thought, so he left a brainprint so Rod could still play cards with him, and decided to try Betafarl. After all, he was a Beta himself and he thought it might be full of techs.

Servalan prided herself on being able to maintain dignity and elegance in any situation, even a communal hot tub. Dorian had doubtless insisted on it to put her at a disadvantage. She was pleased that she had something packed for all occasions, even this. Travis, unfortunately, was reduced to his black Space Fleet issue underpants. He glowered at Dorian, his artificial arm hanging over the side to prevent a short circuit.

"So. You're developing a teleport, Dorian."

"That's right. And all I'd want in turn is some...fresh meat."

Servalan twirled her red plastic flower. "Would the Liberator crew do?"
