Posting about The Hobbit (and why, LJ, have comments there collapsed when there are fewer than 50?) reminded me of Peter Jackson's planned Dambusters. So here are two funny Dambusters-related ads for Carling Black Label.

Oh, thank you. I haven't seen Junction 7. I have to go to work now, so I will save that as a treat for later.

PS - and how can she make a paper cut-out look so much like Martin Freeman? But most of all - good luck with your new job,

BJ7 is so much fun!

Thank you. It's only a contract for two weeks or maybe more, but I'm hoping they'll extend it, or that the agency will find me more once they know my work.

The comment collapse at less than 50 has been going on for some time. I first noticed it several weeks ago, but I think it had been happening for a lot longer. I *suspect* it's a deliberate server saver on LJ's part rather than a glitch. I hate it.

Cofax linked today to a neat review of an old New Zealand author, Julius Vogel, and his 1899 novel of a feminist utopia.

I'm going to see if my library can interlibrary loan a copy for me. :)

I've read that! it's very advanced for the time. The heroine was a bit of a Mary Sue, but in ways that matched the era (like becoming an aristocrat blah-de-blah.

There's an SF award here called the Julius Vogel awards in his honour. He was one of our prime ministers BTW, and one of the three Jewish ones we've had (including the current one) but the only practising one.
