This is a fairly typical season 4 episode: bleak and without hope. It's not even that entertaining unless you count Avon's underwear-less attire on Betafarl, and Zukan and Zeeona's hairstyles.

This was one episode that just didn't work for me. It wasn't a screamingly hate-able one, it just didn't really seem to be very coherent.

Yeah, I don't think much of it either. It does suffer by comparison with two very powerful stories either side but even so, it's rather pedestrian.

Not my favourite either ( but not many episodes in series 4 are). I agree: Avon probably knew she would get killed, but he's not very sympathetic towards Tarrant for his loss. On the contrary if you go by the smile Avon gives us in the end after he's allowed a very worried Tarrant to go down after Zeeona.

Yeah, he definitely knows. Vila OTOH seems surprisingly concerned about Tarrant.

I liked Zeeona, poor doomed lover of a rebel that she was. She had courage and determination. My biggest B7 story started as an AU of this episode.

I liked her too: an educated and strong-willed woman despite her upbringing.

I hadn't spotted Avon without underwear ... must have been awkward in that sand pit, but they did get around the locations around Betchworth that series. That part of Surrey with its very varied geology in layers (chalk, next to sand, next to ...) was pretty useful for them. Good walking country too!

You get some pendulum action when he's on his hands and knees on Betafarl. :-)

I shall have to have a look! Why on earth was he without it? I heard about the rains washing sand into his overalls but ...

I have no idea! Maybe it was a hot day, or he was wearing very loose boxers?

I think so. She was really angry with Zukan for treating her as a chattel. I wonder if she had to work in a similar society at one point.
