I had to google a photo of her but she is a nice looking bridge and I think she has a grandma over here somewhere up north Humberside I think. Any way , Happy Birthday Aukland Harbour Bridge.

That's a lovely photo and it's a beautiful bridge. (There's something about bridges that seems to make it hard for them to be ugly.)

Surely a mass walk needn't have cost much to arrange.

I so agree! I have taken photos of bridges all round the world. I love them.

It wouldn't but it would cause a lot of revenue loss for businesses, even though it's a Saturday. It would basically cut the city in half for several hours, which would take a lot to arrange. I think a few fireworks from the top would have been nice though.

Anyway it wasn't a nice day for a walk: cold and with heavy rain at one stage.

AHHH, I'm older than a bridge. Somehow that seems wrong. :^) It's a lovely bridge.

But there are plenty of beautiful young bridges about, like the teenager Oresund between Denmark and Sweden!

That's a cool bridge- I like the way it ends on an island, and you have to go by tunnel to finish the journey.

There were some nice articles in the paper from or about people who had been there at the opening. One woman remembered her father taking heaps of photos, even from the top, only to find when he went to get them developed that there wasn't a film in his camera.
