Oh, the poor thing! I'm so glad she was rescued and had a good life from then on, and loved someone.

Cats do usually like me; I always let a strange cat sniff my hand before I touch them and they appreciate the courtesy. :-)

Beethoven wouldn't sit on anyone, but I figured she lay on my books and papers because it was where I was looking and she wanted attention. Once I got into my brother's play pen to read a book on the floor in peace, and she came through the bars to me. I didn't think she'd fit, but she was nearly all fur. :-)

I remember discussing it with her, and asking if her beloved Stark was "that guy filled with light"

That's cool. I don't remember that at all. :)

The next family cat was Sam (another common cat name, bestowed by my little brother).

Why is Sam such a common name for a cat, anyway? I knew a Siamese called Sam once.

who never realised that he was too heavy to lie on our chests and shoulders as he used to.

Boy, do I know how that is! I keep trying to point out to Vir that he weighs twenty-five freakin' pounds, but he never seems to get the message. :)

I don't know why Sam's so common. Morphic resonance? ;-) We thought we were fairly original, but I've come across so many Sams since then. Stray cats I have found homes for include Luke, Larry, Grigina (little grey one), and Cammie, none of which I've heard as a cat name since. Once though, when we took Claudia and Tessa to the boarding cattery, there was another Claudia and Tessa there. They could have seen ours earlier though and decided they were nice names, I dunno.

Vic is a big guy now; in fact Greg says he's the Hurley of the household. He was lying on my chest in bed yesterday and I could hardly breathe, but he was so smoochy and purry I didn't have the heart to roll him off.

Ahahahaa, I love the thing about cat/kittens. I mean, obviously a kitten is only a baby cat, but I call a lot of cats kitten/kitty too, including my huge, fat 6 year old ginger. It's really more of a name of affection though. I'll just walk down the hall and see her and go "Kitty!" I just love her reactions, ahhaha.

I watched the first four episodes of Farscape before giving up on it, and don't remember Stark at all--was he introduced later?

And you can pick five things for me if you want.

"Kitties" just isn't a word used in my dialect! OTOH I do sometimes call them pussy-cats which would make some people choke. :-P

You gave up too soon! It took a while to get going, but really got into its stride later in the season, though even the early eps have things that are important, or characters you meet again. Stark was introduced near the end of S1; you'd remember him if you'd seen him! This is him in the icon.

Yeah, "pussy cat" is a lot less commonly used around here, though not entirely unheard of, especially amongst the older generation. I've called mine "puss puss" before. I think double "ss" sound catches her attention well. Interesting though, how words don't carry over sometimes.

Maybe I'll give Farscape another try sometime. I just didn't like any of the characters even in the first four episodes, so it was hard to keep going. Generally I like or think I'll like at least someone by then.

Tell you what, give it the first season and see what you think. I think you'll like Chiana (thief and sexy with it) and Stark (a nutter, but vulnerable and sweet); Chiana at least is a regular character once she arrives. There are two eps you can miss out altogether: 102: I ET, and 114: Jeremiah Crichton (soooo boring). Chiana is introduced in 115: Durka Returns, and Stark in 119: Nerve and 120: The Hidden Memory. A lot of the other eps have characters who come back, or plot points that are important later, some really, really important.

If you still don't like it after a season, give up because you won't. :-) But really, I did find it very slow starting, and I came to love most of them, even Rygel who starts off an annoying little bastard. :-)

Good night!

Eek, that was idiotic and horrible of your dad. How awful:O *shudders* Gah, that reminds me of too many crappy experiences like that with my maternal unit. But it's been interesting reading your answers. Interesting that you managed to become such a big cat fan despite having to have a grumpy one around for so long!

And you can give me topics if you want to. I'm bored anyway and trying to avoid writing a Redemption con report or typing up my Photoshop panel notes. *procrastinates hard*

Eek, that was idiotic and horrible of your dad.

It was. I was upset for days. He looked a little like Avon, and was even snarkier and meaner than the S4 version (except for actually using a pump-action shotgun). I lived in fear of him except when we had something in common like Latin, classics, and our shared sense of humour. I loved those Latin lessons with him--and I came top of the class at the new school. :-P

Oh, but I want to read both of those! Sorry, I was out, but here you go:
Brian Blessed
The Prisoner
Chiana
Finnish countryside
yoga

Eep. Scary. *rubs* I'm sorry your parents were so unpleasant.

HAHAHAHAHAAAA, BLESSED. *ships him and Chiana now*

I'll try and do my best.

YES! And the perfect icon. I love it!

My father was fine when we were being geeky together. Otherwise he was best avoided. At least he didn't constantly run me down like my mother did.

Thank you! I didn't know that about the use of "kitties" that's interesting.

"That guy filled with light" - what a beautiful way to put it! :D

He was intriguing and mysterious, and I think I may have been thinking of the first appearance of Kosh on B5. Or he really did shine his ever-lovin' light on Gilina. :-)
