The Pretender 207: Collateral Damage

Feb 11, 2009 16:15

It's very hot and humid after the rain yesterday--about 85%--but I did manage to watch another ep yesterday. Let's hope there's more rain for the garden and for me to close all the blinds and watch more. As it is now, the cicadas are so loud (though I love their summery noise) I'd have to turn the sound up.

Fun with Jell-O )

Jarod is Jarod Patton. I do like the names he chooses, though this one's a bit obvious.

I personally think this one's a bit too obvious. I sometimes do wonder what he's thinking. I mean, I know he's capable of being subtler than that, but maybe it amuses him. :)

but the Jell-O eating scenes were cute and funny,

Somehow, Jell-o is never not amusing when it appears on TV. :)

I'm not sure if it's the one she lived in with her parents--is it?

IIRC, the house she lives in used to belong to her parents -- I think they used it as a summer place or something -- and Daddy gave it to her at some point.

However her hair shouldn't have been braided when she was hugging the gift and crying after her mother was killed because it's out loose when it happened.

Man, I'm happier when I don't notice continuity gaffes like this. :)

It might have slipped into saccharine, but then you get the priceless Parker and Mini-Me scene.I think this is a great example, actually, of how this show takes a scenario that would probably be unbearably ( ... )

It's the wobbliness!

Where did I miss all the stuff about Parker's house? I am slow. Does Daddy live at the Centre then?

Yeah, continuity errors throw me right out of a story. Unfortunately Greg and I are good at spotting them, and there've been some classics, like the flower that wilts and doesn't as two people talk on a train in North by Northwest.

I might be remembering it from episodes you haven't seen. Or remembering it wrongly, which is always entirely possible. It's incredibly easy to get confused about facts on this show, especially as they often don't seem very, um, stable. :)

Does Daddy live at the Centre then?

I don't think so, but I don't remember if they ever established that clearly. Raines does live there, but he's the only one I'm sure about.

I think there are times when I benefit from being really unobservant. :)

Wow, that's Vanessa Williams? She's almost unrecognisable now as the pale ueber-bitch Wilhelmina on Ugly Betty. I prefer the way she looks here. And hey, Duc's Daniel Dae Kim, who is Jin from Lost!

It's the other Vanessa Williams, this one rather than this one. And, yeah, this show seems to have lots of people back when they were baby actors, it's a little weird.

Me, I can't stand the stuff. It's a texture thing. It's slimy.

Lots of tasty foods are slimy! Mmm, slime...

Parker and Debbie were sort of awesome, and the mini-Parker scene was a little wrong, which of course made it very awesome. :)

No wonder I thought she was so changed! That really did puzzle me. :-P But yay for Daniel Dae Kim! The guy who plays Michael in is Kyle, and doesn't seem to have changed at all.

Lots of tasty foods are slimy!

No, they're not! It took me ages to realised what the common factor was to hating jelly and overripe fruit and veges.

It was totally awesome! And I'm ridiculously glad that Parker had some fun. I don't think she gets much unless she has a live target.

Yeah, I heard the Burn Notice guy was Kyle, no wonder he looked familiar. And Lyle is now pretty famous for Desperate Housewives, apparently.

Pasta is slimy! One of the two really good ways to cook eggplant makes it slimy. And all sorts of nice dips are frankly pretty mucilaginous.

Yeah, he's Mike Delfino, but noticeably older so not as disconcerting as the Burn Notice guy.

I do eat cooked eggplant and tomatoes, but occasionally I almost gag on them if they're reheated or I'm having them cold. :-P
