Oh, lovely! I love Vila here, trying to make peace with his memories, strike safely where he can, trying to hide from himself his loneliness even as he grows fonder of the rat in the box.

And Avon, sardonic and as close to admitting friendship as he's capable, seeking Vila and Orac and giving Vila a reason to trust him a bit again.

And Orac, growing fond of Vila!

I'm so glad you liked it! I never know if a story worked till someone reads it. :-D

I usually regard the little plastic rat as a liability, but then no one but Vila bothered to get to know him (even if it was with jokes).

Oh, that was beautiful. A beautifully painfully real rebuilding and healing of things shattered. I think this might be my favourite PGP. It also feels darker than your usual stuff - but I like that, it suits this story.

That was lovely. Ultraworld was an odd episode but I loved Orac and Vila working together. Its great to see that happening again here and that Orac has made a friend.
