New printer, and a geek's wheelie bin

Ever since our inkjet printer died a while back, we've been without one at home--till a couple of days ago when Greg said he was bringing a surprise home. It was a free printer which came with a laptop his company bought for a new employee, so now we have a B&W laser printer. I whole-heartedly agree! Along with the new version of Word where you have to relearn where almost everything is.

The student computers in the Learning Centre (all 39 of them) are all Windows XP and Word 2007. All the staff machines (apart from the two on the IT desk) are still Windows 2000.

Not only are we having to learn Office 2007 by default (yikes) but if a student comes in with a problem file, or the printers won't work, we can't do squit for them. I am just glad I have OpenOffice on my machine here which sort of gets round the problem a little ...

I'm hoping they don't install it at work. The non-technical users there have enough problems with the present software.
