Candy canes on trees are very, very common in the US. And an excellent custom, IMO: decorations you can eat! Popcorn is less common (and you don't really want to eat it afterward), but I do remember stringing it for classroom decorations when I was a little kid.
Anyway, I saw this card earlier, and thought it was quite wonderful. Adorable Chrismanukah cats!
And I'd never heard of the candy cane thing till I answered that meme and people responded to my puzzlement. I'm amused they're on the card, just to prove it to me.
I've applied for a job I want so much that I'm afraid to post about it because if it's like the others, I'll not even hear back (which I consider worse than being told someone else got it) so I know how you feel. Here's to both of us finding what we want.
