Finally, finally, finally - I've finished my big-huge-monstrous-behemoth of a Luke/Vader AU story, Equally Cursed and Blessed.

It is done.

It's far too big to post to livejournal, so instead I'll just put headers here and follow the link to read it if you're at all interested.

What a lovely ending to such an amazing story. Loved watching Luke feeling AND reasoning his way to the right answer for him. And I loved Luke realizing he and his father can't have a storybook ending now, or perhaps ever. But they can find a happy ending that takes in all the past and gives them a shot at a better future.

Also, Leia's last little parting shot? Genius.

Now more Nova?

Happy endings are soooo tempting. I'm such a sucker for 'em. I was mildly impressed by being slightly restrained on that one....

Actually, I *have* written a couple of chapters of Nova. I want to get a bit further towards the finishing line before posting though, or I might just tie myself in knots with all the many plot threads going on.

YAY! I've only been reading this story for a year and a half, praying for updates, so YAY! Done is good!

I liked the ending. Vader was still Vader, but he was also becoming a Jedi again. It fit. As did the need for Vader to take over for a little while to stabilize the Empire. Lots of stories forget stuff like that.

In conclusion, YAY.

Taking so long over it was a real pain in the ass for me - I kept having to re-read the whole thing to remember where everyone was supposed to end up. Next time, I'm going to get stuff nearly finished before starting to post. Honest.... no, I will... awww, damn - I just know I won't. My resolve is terrible.

I've followed this story for what seems a very long time but probably was since spring 2006, I think that's when I fully discovered the world of fanfiction, especially on LJ and FF.N. The first several chapters I read over and over because the story was how I'd always wanted Vader and Luke's relationship to evolve instead of us getting a couple of minutes of togetherness at the end of ROTJ. I'm glad you decided to continue the story and gave us such a hopeful ending. Maybe some of the EU novel writers should take a couple of lessons from you!

I do find it interesting that, given L/V is the main driver of the trilogy's plot, the EU seems to not be bothered about looking at it further. Well, maybe Shadows of the Empire does, but not very closely. I swear, if they did write a profic focusing on that relationship, it'd sell. But then I'm biased. :D

Oh, what a FANTASTIC ending! I haven't been involved in online fandom/fanfiction for all the long, comparatively, but this is one of the stories I'd read most of several months back and really enjoyed. The ending is brilliant and was well worth the wait! I loved Vader telling Luke about his mother, and of course the strained goodbyes between Vader and Leia.

Excellent fic; thank you so much for sharing. :)
