Question: is this worth my hard earned cash?

Has anyone read the Star Wars: Empire comic series? Whilst randomly surfing wookipedia (yes, I'm at work) I found this:

Star Wars Empire: In the Shadows of Their Fathers

It certainly sounds like it has potential... but I learnt from Vader's Quest to be cautious.

Thoughts??

I have not heard of that particular comic. Though I read the original series that Marvel had out and the past year or so have started reading what's available now, there was a period of several years that I've no idea what was put out.

Let us know what you find out about it. I would be particularly interested if it had Vader in it.

I get very confused by comics, in terms of when they were put out. I read one, which I'd thought wasn't that old, but it had Vader ordering someone to kill Luke... so it had to be before Empire... and then my brain hurt.

:(

I've gone and bought the comics off eBay - we shall see what they're like....

I have the first two in the series (29 and 30). They focus on an OC. Luke makes a token appearance. No Vader. You could definitely skip those, but I have no idea about the rest of the series. Maybe the DarkHorse site has more info as to when Vader shows up.

Enjoying the not-hot summer. Wishing I didn't have to spend so much of it at work. Writing-wise... totally uninspired. What are you up to and why do you have spare time??

Mmm... it's not-hot here, too. Annoying.

Writing-wise... totally uninspired.

Really? Damn. Don't know about you, but I find having no inspiration really irritating. :(

What are you up to and why do you have spare time??

My world is now revolving to the academic year - I'll be spinning off into another year in September. It feels very odd to be at the mercy of the academic calendar!

I have most of this Empire series and s few of the rebellion ones that kinda cross over - They are in a box at my mothers while we decorate or I'd go look at the exact ones for you. Luke and Leia do feature heavily later on. Lots of angst and bruisie. : ) There is FAB story that focuses on Tank and then he and Luke meet up. I thought it was really good. I tend to wait until the graphic novels come out and then get them from the TFAW web site (Things from another world). Vaders quest was crap - these are superior to that! Honest!! : )

I enjoy the Dark Horse comics. I've found them far superior to the novels in terms of character, but I do agree that Vader's Quest was terrible.

I've read all of the Empire and Republic series, and am currently up to date with Dark Times and Rebellion, the series that have replaced Empire and Rebellion. There's been some nice crumbs of Vader stuff in the recent Dark Times which carries on directly from Revenge of the Sith.

As for 'Shadows of their Fathers', I found the original Jabiim story arc in the Republic series to be the more interesting story. I found the premise that the locals on Jabiim would even have remembered Anakin Skywalker's name, never mind seen him as some kind of notorious betrayer, to be pretty unbelievable. But I remember liking Jorin Sol the geeky rebel in this arc, but his resulting fate at the Empire's hands is worse than death, poor guy.
