Sword of Truth~ Chapter 13: Learning More
I wrote this chapter but didn't post! Here's the post! Enjoy.
~Chapter 13: Learning more~
Noriko woke up and heard that everything was silence, she wasn’t sure how long she’d been out but she was still in the darkness of her hiding place, under the bed.
“Let me out!” she screamed, “LET ME OUT!”
She banged on the door and soon she heard the moving of the bed and then the latch was opened she was pulled out by Ohno who sighed, “I thought you were taken.” He said when he pulled her out, “I saw Sho was beaten…”
“He was?” Noriko said pushing away from Ohno and dropping her sword, she looked over on the table and saw Sho was passed out with bruises all over his upper arms his Stomach and right shoulder was wrapped along with his right hand and his head was wrapped from where he fell hard on the floor. She walked over to him slowly. “Sho…” she whispered and looked down at him, she was afraid to touch him. She then turned quickly to look at Ohno.
“Will he…”
“He’ll be fine.” Ohno said lightly, “I healed most of his wounds, he just needs rest.”
Noriko looked at Sho before glaring at Ohno, “Why didn’t you keep them away?” she asked angrily, “Sho could’ve gotten much worse!”
“I couldn’t use my magic against them.” Ohno said sighing, “They would’ve taken me too.”
“How is that possible?”
“My…Brother.” Sho said weakly making Noriko look at him and walked over to his side.
“Sho, you should be resting.” Noriko said looking down at him, “You’re hurt really bad.”
“I’ll be alright…thanks to you.” He said lightly, “My brother…was captured because of his ability.”
“What?” Noriko asked, “What?”
“Sho, rest your body and mind.” Ohno said lightly resting his right palm over his eyes and soon Sho’s breathing evened out.
Noriko looked at him in amazement and Ohno sighed, “Come with me.”
They walked out of his cottage home and out to the dirt path they saw families crying and clinging to each other and Noriko tired to swallow the lump in her throat.
‘It’s because of me…it’s all because of me.’ She looked down at the ground as she followed Ohno.
“Master…”
“I was supposed to have another apprentice. Sho’s older brother.” Ohno said sighing, “He showed much promise from what I heard from Sho…”
“Why isn’t he here?”
“From what I gather.” Ohno said looking at the leaves, the sun was high in the sky and he saw the light shine through the leaves, “He was taken on his journey to me.”
“He was taken?”
“Yes.” Ohno said, “They found out he had powers and gave him a poison that slowly starts to take over his body, blindness, shocks in his body, then the inability to move…”
“How do you know this?” Noriko asked, “You know so much about it.”
Ohno sighed and looked down, “I created it.”
Noriko didn’t know how to feel, she felt her whole body turn numb and she stared at him, “Why…”
“I was young and foolish.” Ohno said looking over at her, “I wanted to test my ability and really, I was angry…” he stopped talking. “It happened when I was in a dark place.”
Noriko looked at him, “Master, if…”
“You know I would’ve been taken if I used my powers. I am not as strong as I wish to be Noriko.” He said, “in order to protect the village as best as I can I must be here.”
“But people are still being taken…” Noriko then noticed how his body when tense, she frowned and then her eyes went wide, “Mi…Mizumi…”
“I couldn’t protect her.” He said softly.
“We have to go after her!” Noriko said turning when he grabbed her arm, “You must train.”
“What good is training if women are being taken! Forced to do things against their will! I can’t stand by and let this happen!”
“Sometimes that is the only way Noriko.” He said giving her a hard look, “Rushing into things isn’t the best course of action.”
Noriko glared at him, “Does Sho know.”
“About Mizumi of course not.”
“No. About what your power did to his brother.” Noriko said glaring at him, “Does he know that you practically killed him.”
Ohno looked at the ground, “I didn’t want to worry him when his brother could already be dead.”
“Or maybe you were just trying to protect the illusion that you are actually doing the right thing.” Noriko said looking at him, “Mizumi could be dead, Sho’s brother could be dead, and Rin could be…” she swallowed, “All because you won’t get off your ass, and use your powers or at least teach us things!”
Noriko looked at him once before turning and walking back to the cottage without him.
Ohno watched her go and sighed, ‘I don’t have all the answers for you Noriko, but I know this is right, letting Mizumi go was right…and soon we will be reunited, but you must trust in me, as well as yourself.’

Noriko walked past Mizumi’s cottage and saw how it looked different. ‘How is Sho going to cope with this? Mizumi was…’ she shook her head, ‘is…is his best friend, there must be something I can do, something.’
She walked in quietly and saw Sho sleeping on the table, she felt so bad for him for things he didn’t even know. Walking over to him she lightly brushed his hair away from his face, she knew he wouldn’t wake up, some part of her just knew he wouldn’t.
“Sho, I’m sorry.” She said lightly, “If I was stronger…”
She then looked over and saw her sword on the bed, walking over she looked at it. ‘Ayame…I want to be stronger.’ She thought as she clutched the middle of the sword. ‘Help me be stronger.’
Noriko’s power flared and soon she passed out holding her sword, she would’ve hit her head hard if Ohno hadn’t come along and catch her.
‘I’ll we can do now is wait.’ He thought setting her on the bed, ‘Good luck with your training Noriko.’
Noriko was deep within her mind, she was already in the clearing with Ayame who smiled at her in welcome.
“You’re ready.”Ayame said, “We have much to do.”
“What do you mean?”Noriko asked, even in her mind she was still holding the sword by the middle. “I don’t understand.”
“You want to be stronger and learn more about your powers, you are ready to put your mind and body at risk.”Ayame said walking towards her, “You will go into a deep sleep for a week Noriko, are you ready to train very hard?”
Noriko looked up at Ayame, she thought about Rin, Sho, Mizumi and Sho’s brother someone who she’d never even met before but wanted to help. “Yes Ayame, I am ready.” She said with a determined nod.
“Well then let’s get started.” Ayame said as the duplicated sword made its way to her hand.
