Chapter 19: Waiting
Noriko sat in her room with Akira the test had to sit for five minutes before the results were shone.
“What do you think you’ll do if it’s positive?” Noriko asked, “Have you thought about what you’re going to tell Nino? Or your parents?”
Akira was strangely silent and Noriko knew that was because she didn’t want to answer any of the questions thrown at her.
“I‘d drop out, get a job or too and never talk to Nino again.” Akira said leaning back against the wall.
“I know you’re joking.” Noriko said, “Because if you aren’t I’ll kick your ass right now.”
She looked at Noriko and sighed, “I can’t tell Nino about this…”
“Fuck Nino!” Noriko said, “This is your future Akira, if you want any life for your child you need to talk to Nino as well as stay in school he’s a grown man! And he should take care of his child and if he doesn’t have the balls to do it I’ll cut them off and make him eat them!”
Akira looked slightly worried, “I donno…”
“If you want, I’ll go with you to tell him.” She said hugging Akira, “It’s what we do.”
Akira breathed out, “Thanks Noriko…ano…do we have to tell Yori.”
“Maybe if you still think about dropping out.” Noriko said grinning, “She’ll kill you for sure.”
“Noriko I-” Yori walked in and saw the test on the desk. She looked back at the two and yelled, “WHAT THE FUCK!”

Ohno stood at the door and wiped his hands on his jeans. He was holding white roses and looked nervous.
Knocking once he was surprised when the door creaked open.
“I TOLD YOU NO BABIES! WHAT THE HELL NORIKO! A PREGNANCY TEST!?!”
Ohno turned white, ‘Noriko…pregnancy test…’ he thought before sitting down.
“YORI SHUT UP IT’S NOT MINE!”
Mizumi walked out of her room and closed Noriko’s door. She sighed and looked over to see Ohno sitting on the couch with her favorite flowers next to him.
“What are you doing here Satoshi?” Mizumi asked walking closer to him, “Noriko’s kind of in the middle of something with Yori…”
Ohno shook his head, “I didn’t come to talk to Noriko, I came here to talk to you.” He said, “I think it’s time for us to talk fully now.”
Mizumi hugged herself looking at him, “I’m not sure I know what to say other than the fact that you really hurt me Satoshi.”
“I know I did, demo…” he sighed and stood up he gave her the flowers and looked down. “I really do like you Mizumi, It’s just I was hiding my feelings because of the fact that I was with Noriko and I loved her…I still love her a lot…but I know you love me as well…and I’m tired of hurting those I care about.”
Mizumi looked down at the flowers and then into his eyes.
“Please Mizumi.”
Mizumi walked towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Kissing his lips softly, Ohno wrapped his arms around her waist and sighed into the kiss.

“Calm down Yori.” Noriko said, “It’s not mine…”
“Then who’s!” She yelled and saw Akira hiding behind Noriko.
“Hell No!”
Akira looked away, and scooted as far away from Yori as she could.
“You’re pregnant? With a professor’s child?!” she asked grabbing Akira’s arm. “I thought you were smart enough to use protection! I thought he was! What are you going to do with your life Akira? One if he denies it! You could get into serious trouble! I can’t believe you!”
“Lay off her Yori!” Noriko said, “She’s already scared enough as it is!”
Yori looked Akira over and sighed, “I just…UGH!”
“Look! Akira knows she messed up, let’s just wait and see what the test says before jumping to conclusions.” Noriko said, pulling Akira into another hug. “It’s her body okay.”
“I’m not saying I won’t help or anything, I just…I think she’s being stupid.” Yori said, “I mean…him too don’t get me wrong I’m pissed at professor Ninomiya…demo this mess.”
Akira looked down at her feet. “I know I was stupid, but if I am pregnant, I’m sure Kazunari would help out…he told me he loved me.”
“Yea but do you think he’ll stick around after you tell him you’re pregnant with his little spawn?” Yori asked bitterly.
Akira felt tears weld in her eyes. And Noriko hugged her tighter. “It’ll be fine Akira. Yori’s just really scared for you is all.” She glared at Yori who sighed once more and hugged Akira as well.
Noriko looked at her desk clock and saw that it was time to check the test.
“Akira it’s time…do you want me to do it or…” she asked.
Akira stood up, “I’ll do it.” She walked over to the desk and picked up the test with shaking hands. Noriko and Yori both watched as she fell to the floor crying.
