Chapter 12: Before it’s too Late
Noriko was smiling as she walked into Photography. One thing was at least going good today. ‘I know Yori and Aiba will be a couple after Friday.’ She thought grinning, ‘He’s liked her since freshmen year…I know he has.’
As Noriko walked into the room she saw Ohno. His head was down and he was drawing once more, he looked to be concentrating.
‘Iie Noriko…Don’t start liking Ohno.’ She thought as she walked over to him.
Noriko silently watching as he drew this scene, it was unfinished she could tell, but so far she was staring into an eye. It was so detailed she was in transited by it and soon the book was shut. Noriko looked down and saw Ohno staring at her grinning.
“You need to stop looking at my unfinished projects.” He said still grinning, “It makes me feel as if I can’t draw in this class anymore.”
“I can’t help that your art speaks to me.” She said smiling, “You have talent.”
Ohno smiled at her, “Thanks…I’ll show you this when I’m done.” He said, “You’ll be the first one I show Noriko.”
Noriko smiled, “Thanks Zero-chan.” she said looking into his eyes.
Ohno moved in a bit and the bell rang singling the five minutes late bell. Both teens jumped and Noriko turned around in her seat blushing why Ohno pulled away sighing.
Noriko shook her head, ‘what was that…?’ she wondered as she looked at her computer screen.

Noriko walked out of Photography when Ohno called her.
“Nori-chan.” he said then walked up close to her and kissed her. He pulled away smirking, “I forgot to do that in class.”
He then walked away from a stunned Noriko. The smirk was still on his face.
She looked at the ground as he walked away and touched her lips.
‘Do I feel something for Ohno…’ she wondered as she looked up and watched him retreat.
“OH MY GOD!” Yori’s loud voice screamed from down the hall.
Noriko turned around and fell to the ground as Yori tackled her, Yori was on top of her shaking her and grinning.
“YOU LIKE SATOSHI OHNO?!” She yelled loudly and Noriko pushed her off.
“Keep your voice down.” Noriko said as Sho walked down the hall. He saw Noriko and Yori lying on the ground.
“Keeping out of trouble ladies?” Sho asked looking at them, they scrambled to their feet.
Noriko blushed and nodded while Yori grinned, “Naw Noriko’s a bad girl, always and forever…you should totally punish…ITAI!” Noriko stepped on Yori’s foot and glared at her.
Sho looked at her amused and nodded, “Okay, well Noriko remember to meet me after school, I have something to discuss with you about this morning.”
Noriko nodded once more, “Hai…Sakurai-Sensei.”
Sho nodded at her and smiled once more before walking down the hallway. When he was out of ear shot Yori was grinning at her before sending her a kiss.
Noriko growled, and Yori waved before running down the hall to gym class. Noriko pushed Yori into the gym doors and she made a face before pushing the door the rest of the way open.
The girls paused and saw two people shouting at each other. Walking into the Gym they saw it was Jun and Rin.
“How did you get a hickey Rin!” Jun shouted, “Just tell me how!”
“I told you It’s not a hickey!” she yelled putting cover up on the massive blotch of purple. “I hurt myself flat ironing my hair.”
Jun growled, “Don’t lie! Was it Jin again? Did he steal you away from me once more?”
Rin rolled her eyes, “You’re being ridiculous Jun!” Rin said before walking away from him into the girls locker room.”
Noriko saw Jun look defected and Yori looked sad as well, “Noriko…” she started when Noriko shook her head and followed Rin into the changing room.
Yori watched her go, and walked over to Jun.
“I know she’s cheating on me…” He said not looking at her, “but…”
“You, still love her?” Yori said shaking her head, “Jun I know we aren’t the best of friends…”
Jun turned and looked at her, “Yori, I thought we were the best of friends.” He said grinning, then it turned into a sad smile, “The only reason I messed with you is because you had the nerve to get angry at me.”
Yori hit him, “Well, since we are such good friends…I’m going to say that you’re an idiot.”
Jun rubbed his hair, “I know…but I don’t love Rin as much as I use too.”
Yori was shocked, “Eh?”
Jun sighed, “When we started dating again, Rin wasn’t the shy girl that held my hand and made me feel as if I could fly with all the butterflies in my stomach…she would smile and I’d turn to mush…”
“I’m going to gag, get to the point please.” Yori said holding her stomach.
Jun laughed and pushed her, “I think I’m in love with someone else.” He said smiling at her.
Yori’s eyes shined, and grabbed him, “Jun, tell her.” She said, “She was hurt and shocked but if you don’t hurry up someone else will snatch her up.”
Jun looked confused, “Who…”
Yori looked away, “I saw Satoshi Ohno kiss her in the hallway.” She said, “Noriko didn’t seem to mind much, but it confused her…I think you should tell her before she completely forgets about you.”
He breathed out, “Why are you helping me Yori?”
Yori grinned, “Because one, you finally stopped walking around with that stick in your ass, and Two…I want Noriko to be happy with the person she loves the most.”
Jun nodded, “I’ll tell her after school.”
She shook her head, “Noriko has a meeting with Mr. Sakurai, so…think of something.”
“I’ll-”
“Matsumoto, Yamamoto! Get changed now before I make everyone run 15 laps in your honor!” Armstrong yelled in the middle of the gym.
Yori saluted the couch and rushed into the girls locker room. Noriko was walking out when Yori grinned at her.
“Noriko, you might be going on a date with Aiba-chan and I on Friday.” Yori said happily.
Noriko looked at her weirdly before walking out of the locker room.

Noriko was sore somewhat, they ran 5 laps, did suicides, drop and rolls and then they played indoor tackle foot ball on mats.
She along Yori and Aiba who were walking to their lockers together, Aiba insisted on walking with them even though his locker was on the other side of the school. Noriko knew he didn’t want to leave Yori’s side and thought it was cute of him.
“So that was a great game.” Yori said rubbing her shoulder, and grinning proudly.
“You’re only saying that cause you tackled Rin…” Noriko then laughed, “And she didn’t even have the ball.”
“It least she’s not as brused next time we’re being on the same team Noriko…I think you bruised my spine.” Aiba said whining.
“Suck it up Aiba.” Noriko said hitting him on the back hard.
“Itai…” he moaned and Yori giggled before rubbing his back, “Well, this is your stop Noriko, talk to Mr. Sakurai and see what’s going up!”
“Yori can I walk you home?” Aiba asked as they continued to her locker.
Noriko could see Yori nodding and she knew she was blushing as well.
Knocking once on the door she opened it and walked inside, Sho was sitting behind his desk and marking someone’s paper.
Noriko didn’t want to be rude so she knocked on the opposite side of the door and Sho smiled and stood up.
“Miss Kinjo, I’m glad you made it… on time.” He said looking at the clock above her head.
Noriko watched as he got up slowly from his chair and walk towards her.
“I wanted to talk to you about, what happened this morning.” He said, “You’re normally so…”
Noriko looked at Sho and sighed, “Sakurai-sensei…” Noriko started, “I know how it looked but Jun really, he hurt me okay…I know…”
She paused and noticed how close it was to her and she stopped talking. “S…Sakurai-Sensei.”
Sho breathed out and backed up, running his fingers through his hair, “I’m sorry…I don’t know…I think…I think you should leave.”
Noriko frowned and turned towards the door. She heard Sho breath out and moved his chair back to sit down. She remembered her dream and how confident and controlled she was. Nodding her head once she pushed off of the door and saw Sho was sitting with his head in his hands.
She moved his hands out of the way, bent over and pulled him by his neck to a kiss.
Sho’s hands gripped the handles of his chair as he kissed her back. Noriko pulled away and stood up, she was blushing but said nothing as she strutted out of the classroom, slamming the door leaving a stunned Sho in her wake.
Sho watched her go and quickly got out of his chair letting it clutter to the ground. He wrenched open the door and ran into the hallway, he saw Noriko running out of the doors to the school and he was going to run after her when something stopped him.
Noriko ran down the street, as quickly as she could with a smile brightly on her face. ‘I kiss a teacher…I. KISSED. A. TEACHER!’ she couldn’t believe how much adrenalin was pumping through her but she continued to run not feeling the least bit tired.
When she got to her apartment she froze, there were police officers swarming round the building along with an ambulance.
Jun was standing by the door when he saw her, “Noriko!” he yelled running towards her and pulling her into a hug. “Noriko, I’m so sorry…I’m so so sorry.” He kept repeating and Noriko looked at him confused.
A body was carried out on a stretcher with a white sheet over it. Noriko pushed out of Jun’s arms and rushed over to the sheet. People grabbed at her and tried to keep her away but she pushed on, tears streaming down her face.
“She’s the daughter…” she heard one of her neighbors whisper before lifting the sheet.
She saw the peaceful face of her father.
