Chapter 11: Together
Noriko licked her lips as she looked up and saw Sho standing at the top of the stairs holding the door open.
He was wearing a black dress shirt with a white tie and dark blue jeans.
‘Opposite to what he was wearing in my dream.’ Noriko thought letting her eyes rake over him.
“Miss Kinjo, Miss Yamamoto.” He said smiling, “Aren’t you on your way in?”
“Hai Sakurai-Sensei.” Noriko said finding her voice. She then quickly looked at Yori and then back at him.
In that brief look Yori got it and her mouth fell open.
“Miss Yamamoto are you alright?” Sho asked moving towards them when Noriko Hit Yori in the arm with her elbow.
“Yea…yeah she’s fine, she just remembered about the big test we have on Friday.” Noriko said smiling, “We have to study.”
“Right…Right the test.” Yori said looking at Noriko then and grinned at Sho. “A test Noriko’s been dreaming about, she just wants to please you Mr. Sakurai.”
Noriko’s eyes went wide and she stepped on Yori’s foot.
Sho gave her a weird look and Noriko pushed Yori past him.
“Don’t…uh…don’t mind her…she’s out of her mind.” Noriko said blushing and rushing past him.
When they got away from Sho Noriko sighed and hit Yori hard on the head, “You baka!”
“Itai! Nani?” Yori yelled, “I did you a favor!”
Noriko closed her eyes and shook her head, “Yori, if anyone finds out that I had that dream…it’d be crappy, they’d think I want to be his teacher’s pet or something.”
“Nori, Nori, Nori…you don’t want to be a teacher’s pet…you want to pet the teacher.” Yori said putting her arm around her, “There’s a slight difference.”
Noriko rolled her eyes and pushed Yori away, “Go to your locker you freak.” Noriko said, grinning.
Yori grinned back and stepped closer, “Freaks have wet dreams about their teachers…You’re so dirty Nori-chan…stop stealing my thunder.”
Noriko pushed her once more laughing. “I hate you.” She said and went to her locker.
Sho finished walking down the hall, he was smiling sweetly and politely like he always did. But today was different.
‘Noriko Kinjo…Are you interested in your teacher?’ he thought smiling, ‘This makes things much easier.’
Noriko and Yori walked into Sho’s room together arms linked when they saw Jun sitting with his head down and both of his hands clutching his pencil. Noriko felt bad and was about to walk over to him when Yori grabbed her arm.
“What…What…What are you doing?” Yori asked still holding on to her, “You were not just about to go over there and comfort him.”
“Why not?” Noriko asked, “Jun…he was my best friend.”
“As well as the idiot that broke your heart and went back to his cheating ex!” Yori said, “He should’ve known this was going to happen.”
“Yori…” Noriko said pleading with her, “He needs someone.”
“I won’t allow it Noriko.” Yori said, “I know you, you’ll walk over there, comfort him and then fall in love with him once more.”
Noriko looked down, “But…”
“No buts Noriko. You will leave him alone, you won’t talk to him…got it.” Yori said firmly. “Got it…” she repeated with her serious look.
Noriko sighed, “I got it…” She said as Yori released her. Noriko looked at Yori and sat down next to Jun. She looked at his sad face and wondered what was going on.
“Jun, what’s wrong.” Noriko asked softly.
She heard Yori smack her forehead with her hand and mutter something about ‘this chick never listens to me.’ Before she tuned Yori out and turned all of her attention on to Jun.
“Leave me alone Noriko.” Jun said in a dejected tone.
Noriko frowned, “Why would I do that when you look like you could use someone to talk to?” she asked.
Jun sighed and looked at her, “I doesn’t concern you.” He said, “So leave me alone.”
His words her hurt her to the point of anger, Noriko felt Yori turn to come to her defense when she glared at him.
“Fine.” She said angrily, making Jun and Yori both look at her. “All I wanted to do was see if you were okay.” She said, “I’ve loved you for a long time, so when I see you hurt my first thought is to see if you are okay, and you push me away, always pushing me away!”
Jun stared at her wide eyed, “Who was the one that always helps you? Who was the one that cared when you were so broken and sad the first time Rin the slut broke your heart? Who was the one that sat with you telling you, that your life still had meaning and made you laugh at stupid joke! Me that’s right!”
She didn’t notice she was crying, “All I do is care about you and worry and you act like this to me…I don’t think…I KNOW you and Rin deserve each other…so the slutty bitch can have you! I’m done with anything that has to do with Jun Matsumoto!”
Yori’s eyes soften, “Nori-chan…” she said softly.
Noriko wiped her eyes and Sho was looking at her the whole time.
“Class…settle down.” He said looking right at her. Noriko looked down and started to pile her books on her desk.
“I assumed everyone read up to Act 3 in…” Sho’s voice drifted around the class room.
Noriko kept looking down not once looking at Sho, yet writing down every important thing she could as he spoke.
Jun looked over at her every few minutes hoping she’d look up at him, but he knew it was futile. He’d just lost one of his best friends, and it was his entire fault.
When the bell rung Noriko started to pack up her things when Sho was next to her desk.
“Miss Kinjo, I would like to have a word with you after school today.” He said softly. “We will be discussing your attitude in class.”
Noriko picked up her bag and nodded, but kept her eyes trained to the floor walking past him.
Sho wanted to reach out and grab her but kept but he let her walk out of his class room and into her next one.

Noriko sat at lunch picking at her food, the day had gone from bad to worse. She’d gotten back her math test and had a D-. She tried really hard on that too, even going to Yori for help, but it didn’t pay off.
She looked up at Aiba who was looking at Yori. Yori was so into her food she didn’t notice that Aiba kept watching her as she moved the food from her plate to her lips.
Aiba’s lips parted softly and he froze.
Yori put down her fork and looked at him, “Aiba what are you staring at?” she asked slightly annoyed.
“Huh?” Aiba said blushing breaking out of his trance, “I wasn’t staring…I was looking at…I mean thinking about something…”
Noriko snorted and looked at Yori. “He was watching your lips Yori.”
Yori started to blush and Noriko grinned as Aiba blushed harder.
“See, I helped.” Noriko said grinning, “Now to help further how about you guys stop pussy footing around and say how much you like each other.”
Yori hit the table and looked at Noriko, “Noriko! Really…” she then sighed and looked at Aiba smiling, “Aiba-chan I know you don’t…”
“I like you Yori.” Aiba said quickly almost as if he’d lose his nerve if he waited any longer.
“E…Eh?” Yori said stuttering and blushing, “N…No you don’t.”
“Yes I do.” He said, “I want you to go out on a date with me Friday.”
Noriko looked at him this time, and nudged Yori. “Say something…don’t be a baka!” she said softly.
Yori looked shocked before nodding, “sure…Aiba-chan…why…why not.” She then looked shyly back down at her food and Noriko couldn’t help but grin like a fool.
Aiba sighed out and wrapped his left arm around his stomach, ‘I did it…’ he thought happily, ‘I asked her out.’
Noriko could tell both of her friends were in shock but the laughter bubbled through her. She smiled at Aiba and winked.
“So Aiba-chan where are you taking my girl?” She asked protectively, “First off what are you intentions with my Yori-chan.”
Aiba focused on Noriko, “Eh?”
“You heard me I got to see if you’re good enough for my darling Yori!” Noriko said nodding putting an arm around Yori.
Yori laughed and pushed her off, “Shut up Noriko.”
“Why must you disappoint me with your words Yori?” Noriko said pretending to cry, “And you use to be such a good seed.”
Yori, Aiba and Noriko all started to laugh loudly, and she knew the shocking tension was a thing in the past.
