You know, I wish I knew who exactly summoned him myself--that whole event is pretty fuzzy, probably intentionally (for now at least). Well, unless I'm a total retard which is totally possible lol The impression I got was that the cult dudes were trying for that result but either Ciel subverted their efforts, Ciel's will was what summoned him in the first place, or Sebastian thought he was just more interesting than the ones that summoned him. NO IDEA orz
I am down with all of those theories. I wish I had something more intelligent to add, though. @__@
I'm a little hung-up on the line "what has been sacrificed will not be returned, so choose". It sounds like the person making the actual sacrifice (that is to say, the person who is actually losing something precious such as their life) is the one who gets to make the decision. In which case it would be that Ciel is the one dying, and his soul is already forfiet to this demon by virtue of being sacrificed - but he gets to make the decision to either go ahead and give up his soul or take advantage of the exchange the demon is offering.
Ciel, being made of AWESOME, chooses the latter. =D
Hmmm... I never got the impression that he was used in a demonic summoning at all. =/ It's very vague to me. Maybe I need to read that chapter through again.
It's chapter 19 that I'm referencing here. It's the fact that someone else is holding a knife, then Ciel looks like he has been stabbed through the chest and it doesn't look like it was the most voluntary thing ... All the masked people looking on when Sebastian shows up, and the very fact that Ciel is a captive in a cage when this all happens.
But I could be totally wrong! that's just my evidence in favor of my theory! ORZ.
