Axel 101
Axel is an odd duck of sorts and if you find yourself often questioning his quips and various behaviors, then, believe me, that is NORMAL. Axel, ICly, isn't an easy character to understand because he's just so...multi-faceted. Having said that, even I don't know everything about him, but I know enough to be able to put this mini guide together for you.

Basic Appearance: Very tall. Roughly 6’3” or so. Axel is also extremely skinny to the point where you might think he never eats (provided HE DOES, but, ah, moderately). His posture is extremely straight with his arms pulled back and his chest pushed out when he is standing upright, making him appear a bit stiff. Axel also has a long torso, skinny arms, and wide hips that, yes, don't lie.
Additionally, upon setting eyes on Axel, you should first notice his fire red hair which falls in evenly spiked tufts varying in length past his shoulders. Dude takes pride in how he takes care of it, so if you're looking to irk him, have a field day with it. His eyes appear to be outlined with dark liner, winging out at the corners, and help to accentuate the piercing teal color of his irises. His face is sharp with a pointed chin and thin, short eyebrows that curve downward to compliment his arrogant persona. Axel’s skin is also quite tan compared to the pale complexion of some of the other members.
Axel always wears his signature Organization cloak, and is one of the few members with slight alterations to the design-the shoulder pads are wide, the sleeves are tight on the arms, and the fabric clings tightly to his body, revealing his form underneath. These cloaks are worn exclusively by the Organization members-supposedly a defense mechanism against darkness-and often appear leather with two large pockets, one on each side, and a double ended, silver metal zipper which runs along the middle beginning at the collarbone and to the bottom. Depending on the member's preference, they may choose to keep the bottom zipper unzipped higher or lower on the body; Axel keeps his at about knee length. Connected to the cloaks hood are two silver metal draw strings, hanging between them a chain made with decorated beads of the same material. The large hood of the cloak is primarily used to hide the Nobody's face in a veil of darkness; Axel, however, is only seen with his hood up once and thereafter never puts it back on. In RP if you might see him wearing it, then assume he's tired as hell.
Additionally, he wears black, high top, leather boots which zip up from the side, and a pair of leather gloves which, unlike the other members’, are long and extend past his elbows beneath his sleeves.

Axel has a pretty unique voice...a weird one at that, and it tends to change depending on the person he's talking to or the situation that he's in. For example, Axel's voice in Kingdom Hearts II will differ greatly from CoM because in Kingdom Hearts II, well, he's more of a laid-back individual, where as in CoM his voice is more dramatic because he happens to be acting and playing around most of the time. As for how it sounds 99.9% of the time? Think of it as a really diluted Brooklyn accent. It can verge on the edge of creepy to just plain sweet and if you know Axel enough it should be easy to tell just what he's "feeling" based on his speech patterns alone. This is why I put this description here.

♪ Pyrokinesis: Axel was born with the ability to manipulate fire through the use of twin chakrams--named Eternal Flames--or without. He fights with quick agility, precision, stability, and acrobatics, though a few of his attacks take a while to perform, making him susceptible to injury. It is possible for him to turn an area of ground into lava which would lower one's health gradully; however, knocking him out would cause the lava to die. Also, Axel has a very powerful attack whch prevents him from being touched--all Nobodies have this sort of strength--and this is when the surrounding area darkens, his body engulfs in fire, and he shoots a barrage of melée attacks before slamming his chakrams into the ground to create a trail of high jumping, fiery pillars. Fire, to him, is a playful yet virulent element that should never be taken lightly. One should not be surprised if he plays with little wisps of it in his spare time.
Though Axel can be damaged by fire magic in Days, but healed by it in previous installments, I am going off the assumption that he cannot be harmed by fire. Blizzard attacks, however, will injure him greatly.
♪ Cure: Introduced in 358/2 Days, Cure magic became available to Organization members via multiplayer mode. Axel can therefore perform three levels of Cure magic--Cure, Cura, and Curaga, with Curaga being the highest and most sufficient yet energy draining.
♪ Verbal Manipulation: Additionally, Axel is a skilled puppeteer in the sense that he can easily manipulate people to his liking with his words alone. This attribute is essential for his occupation as assassin of the Organization.
♪ Teleportation: Every member of the Organization has the ability to summon Corridors of Darkness, essentially a large amethyst and black portal, which, once summoned, warps up from the ground to transport Nobodies from point A to point B in a matter of seconds. Axel summons his with a simple raise of a hand. People with hearts would do well not to enter one of these portals due to the strength of the darkness inside -- overtime the darkness will taint their heart, overbearing it, and in turn destroy them. However, Nobody's have no such problem, so each can easily teleport themselves to various locations with little effort.
♪ Summoning: Have we mentioned subordinate Nobodies? Each member of Organization XIII commands a certain species of subordinate Nobodies which, according to their master's element or fighting style, act similarly. Aside from commanding Dusks, a lower class Nobody, Axel commands Assassin Nobodies which are circle in shape and easily warp into the ground to prevent being hit.
♪ Pressure Striking: As seen in Days, Axel can pinpoint a pressure point on someone's body and hit it with enough force to make the victim pass out. While this is only seen with him striking the back of Xion's neck hard enough to make her pass out, it is possible for him to hit other pressure points to deal the same damage.
♪ Enhanced Senses: Nobodies have a very keen sense of smell--as DiZ relates them most to hunting dogs in that sense--hearing, and eyesight for seeing better in the dark. And, if you would count it, Axel also has excellent reflexes.
♪ Speed: In the Organization Axel would probably count as one of the fastest members. Typically he's faster at running and dodging than attacking, so landing a hit may be difficult with him.
♪ Kamikaze: Most notably, Axel's greatest and most powerful ability is his Kamikaze attack which involves sacrificing his own being, or soul, to perform. This attack causes flames to engulf his body and, in turn, his body will explode and destroy opponents within a great range. Arguably, this attack would bring Axel's death, so, previously, he never executed it until his ending in Kingdom Hearts II. He will only use this attack if absolutely necessary for a loved one's protection.

⚠ Relationship with Roxas and Xion: His biggest weakness. There is little that Axel will not do for the sake of keeping his best friends safe and unharmed, and he has been known to resort to desperate measures no matter the severity of the case, regardless of consequences.
⚠ Relationship with Saix: Saix, having proved Axel wrong in the past and seen past every one of his facades due to their relationship as humans, is one of two people he will feel subordinate to. Though he won't listen to everything Saix says or be at his side like a loyal lackey one hundred percent of the time, Axel's defenses can be significantly weakened around him due to a combination if guilt and fear.
⚠ Xemnas: No, not the relationship, but the man himself. Axel, though he may never admit it, fears his boss above anyone else--especially given the timeline he's from--and if there's one way to incapacitate him it would be to bring Xemnas onto the scene. He will certainly protect his loved ones from Xemnas, of course, but he'll probably be expecting to die in the process.
⚠ Distance: It isn't so much that Axel is over-confident in himself, but that his mistrust in people and mistrust in himself being able to avoid harming others keeps him from creating strong bonds or even asking for help. Having said that, though he knows that strength can come in numbers, Axel tends to distance himself and limit himself to befriending a certain amount of people.
⚠ Loss of memory: When a Nobody is born they have to rely on their memories of their past life along with their will to live if they wish to maintain their sense of individuality. Forgetting is not an option.
⚠ Coldness: In technical terms Axel can be extremely weakened by blizzard spells, though a cold atmosphere or even cold water can mirror the same effects.

Axel currently shares headspace with a few other people, though he remains the loudest and the strongest out of all of them, and therefore has a strong sway over the headspace in general. Currently he resides with people such as Roxas, Xion, Lea, GIR, and...Woody, though there are many more; however, Axel does not necessarily interact with all of them. Typically he feels that the headspace is his responsibility--mess with one of the people inside and you'll be messed with in return. In other words, Axel's the motherfucking king of the castle and you're a dirty rascal. XD

In metaverse, Axel usually develops strong relations with castmates, of course depending on who they are; however, they are not as open and tight-knit because, well, these interactions occur out in the open for anyone to see. As opposed to metaverse, in IMverse Axel's relations can be extremely close, extremely open, and therefore extremely different. He will be less secluded and more prone to exposing his vulnerability. Here the example from above is the complete opposite: if Axel loves someone he will show it and admit it.

Though this Saix's past is different and he was never Isa, Axel appreciates this relationship because this is the first Saix that he has been able to become very close to. Having said that, however, Axel, at times, can come off as trying to hard not to screw up this relationship, which may get on Saix's nerves. The cultural barrier naturally makes for uneasy tension and undesirable outcomes, but the two of them remain dependent and constant for one another. Additionally, Axel finds it odd that Saix is unwilling to share their more intimate moments between their muns and why they have to be so secretive.

Having said that, if your character wants to be friends with him, it won't be an easy task and, really, it's going to take time. Aside from him also having a bit of a temper and liking to butt his way into people's space, here are some other things to consider!

Insulting the ones he cares about: It'd be best if you didn't! If you don't know who these people are, then you have not been paying close attention! ♥ There are certain people that he's ok with you insulting, that he may like but not that much, but otherwise...back off.

♫ What squicks him?: The thought of being alone, growing a heart, people who think they know/own everything, bad memories, being ordered around, and the words "I'll be waiting." If you bring these up anywhere, expect a negative reaction, strong or not so.
♫ Why don't you have any manga icons?: I have a "thing" with icons; they work in tandem with Axel's words and if the expression and the words don't match, well, we have a problem. That said, if you haven't noticed, many of Axel's manga faces are very...exaggerated (as they should be, I suppose) and don't match up well with the Axel I have written in my mind. So! Game!Axel is my personal choice.
♫ What about that heart of his?: Heart, what heart. You know, it's a little vague as to what "heart" Nobodies lack, but according to the Japanese kanji for "heart" they lack the ethereal heart; however, there has been no reference to the physical heart being there or not. But I figured, hey, they have pigmentation in their skin and they have to live somehow, so, yes, Axel has a physical heart, but he cannot physically feel it.
I made the choice to make Axel 'numb' to the beating heart inside him, meaning that he can't feel it or hear it, and that others shouldn't be able to do so as well. The reason for this is because I feel that his belief about not having a ethereal heart has made it so that he lacks the ability to sense his own heart's existence. Having said that, it's there, it makes him bleed and all sorts of other bodily things, but he just can't sense it.
♫ Can he fall in love with so-and-so?: This has always been a problem for me, not because I don't like the idea of Axel loving anyone, but because, ICly, he would, but not in a romantic way--at least not so easily, anyway. It's a little hard to describe, but I'll do my best.
What I think the most important thing for people to realize about Axel is that he is very guilty and it isn't so much his fear of having a heart again that keeps him from committing romantically to someone, but rather that guilt. Having said that, I think the only way that he would be able to commit himself to anyone would be if he wouldn't feel so guilty about his past and about what is happening currently in an RP. Unfortunately, he does enjoy leading people on and flirting every now and then, so it's easy for people to get the wrong impression. So basically what I'm saying is that he may show interest in someone and even display gestures of affection, but later on he'll just tell himself that, no, this isn't going to work out because he would suck as a partner. B|
♫ What's his sexual preference and experience?: I have gotten this question before and my answer--BASED on assumption--is that Axel is a bisexual. He likes both men and women and doesn't have a preference for one or the other.
Overall, though, he knows what to do. He is a controller and a 'smooth operator' by nature because his main reason for having sex would be to gain something for himself, be it pleasure or information. With Lea’s memories intact Axel also understands what feels good to his body and to others’; however, it is always a good idea to understand more. Having said that, as I mentioned before, given Axel’s level of curiosity he is into sex because he wants to know more about it. In other words, sex with Axel is presumably good, great even, and can at times feel premeditated. Call it a ‘personal mission’. Really. He’d probably write a report about it afterwards.
Going back to the subject of Lea really quickly, I want to point out that (from headcanon!) Lea was not a virgin, but Axel is, so he will be able to register lust and sexual urges seeing as they are physical feelings, but he might not be able to know what to do with them at first. The reason I say this is because (again headcanon!) Axel probably did not have time or motivation as a Nobody to devote to sex. He played with himself rarely on his own time, again, to quell some curiosity, but other than that, sex just was not possible. That and with missions and constant trips to Castle Oblivion in which other things were more important...yeah. Sex was not going to happen. However, given character development and the like, it is possible that Axel can become more used to sex and actually fall into it full swing.
♫ So, then, what does he like in a partner?: Physical attributes rank somewhere in the middle on a list of important things to consider in a partner, at least for Axel. What matters the most is first and foremost the person's heart and what makes it tick. Of course, he won't be drawn to someone who is entirely independent and has a strong will; no, he likes balance. Axel likes people who have the potential to be sensitive and fragile though at the same time tough as nails. In other words he has to be able to comfort and be there for them as well as not worry too much about when they encounter a bump in their life. He likes a genuine heart which holds it's many perfect imperfections. He can tell when a person is fake and he can tell when they're putting on an act for his sake. Though amusing, they don't impress Axel much, and if anything lowers his opinion if a person.
♫ I want him and so-and-so to interact. What does he do, exactly?: For fun? Well...that entirely depends. It's really hard to say what Axel will do next because he doesn't keep a schedule. A very go-with-the-flow-guy. Having said that, he could spend one day hanging out on the rooftops and then the next trying to learn how to swim. Basically what I'm saying is...he's not picky.
♫ Does he drink?: Yes, he does, actually. Beer, usually, but he'll take shots here and there. Anytime Axel goes out drinking he's...pretty much planning on getting wasted. But I don't think he's an obnoxious or violent drunk, at least depending on who he's with and what's going on. Typically, though? Axel's a fun drunk that just talks really fast and a lot. So! Want to get something out of him that you're curious about? Get him drunk.
♫ Does he bleed?: This has been a little difficult for me to establish. *head scratch* See, in Kingdom Hearts, NO ONE BLEEDS. There is only darkness and dark...fog that leaves someone's body when they're injured, but people like Sora don't even take physical damage at all. The Nobodies, however, do leak dark particles as they "fade" or "die" and I assume that they do the same thing when they have something as small as a paper cut or as life threatening as a slashed off leg. But because I'm going off of the headcanon idea that Axel has a beating, physical heart inside of him, I'm also saying that he has a regular blood supply; it's just a little...weaker than a normal humans. Having said that, yes, Axel bleeds, but not much, so if he's injured the most that will come out is dark particles. You may not even see the blood at all.

♪ Enhanced Senses: Nobodies have a very keen sense of smell--as DiZ relates them most to hunting dogs in that sense--hearing, and eyesight for seeing better in the dark. And, if you would count it, Axel also has excellent reflexes.
♪ Speed: In the Organization Axel would probably count as one of the fastest members. Typically he's faster at running and dodging than attacking, so landing a hit may be difficult with him.
♪ Kamikaze: Most notably, Axel's greatest and most powerful ability is his Kamikaze attack which involves sacrificing his own being, or soul, to perform. This attack causes flames to engulf his body and, in turn, his body will explode and destroy opponents within a great range. Arguably, this attack would bring Axel's death, so, previously, he never executed it until his ending in Kingdom Hearts II. He will only use this attack if absolutely necessary for a loved one's protection.

⚠ Relationship with Roxas and Xion: His biggest weakness. There is little that Axel will not do for the sake of keeping his best friends safe and unharmed, and he has been known to resort to desperate measures no matter the severity of the case, regardless of consequences.
⚠ Relationship with Saix: Saix, having proved Axel wrong in the past and seen past every one of his facades due to their relationship as humans, is one of two people he will feel subordinate to. Though he won't listen to everything Saix says or be at his side like a loyal lackey one hundred percent of the time, Axel's defenses can be significantly weakened around him due to a combination if guilt and fear.
⚠ Xemnas: No, not the relationship, but the man himself. Axel, though he may never admit it, fears his boss above anyone else--especially given the timeline he's from--and if there's one way to incapacitate him it would be to bring Xemnas onto the scene. He will certainly protect his loved ones from Xemnas, of course, but he'll probably be expecting to die in the process.
⚠ Distance: It isn't so much that Axel is over-confident in himself, but that his mistrust in people and mistrust in himself being able to avoid harming others keeps him from creating strong bonds or even asking for help. Having said that, though he knows that strength can come in numbers, Axel tends to distance himself and limit himself to befriending a certain amount of people.
⚠ Loss of memory: When a Nobody is born they have to rely on their memories of their past life along with their will to live if they wish to maintain their sense of individuality. Forgetting is not an option.
⚠ Coldness: In technical terms Axel can be extremely weakened by blizzard spells, though a cold atmosphere or even cold water can mirror the same effects.

Axel currently shares headspace with a few other people, though he remains the loudest and the strongest out of all of them, and therefore has a strong sway over the headspace in general. Currently he resides with people such as Roxas, Xion, Lea, GIR, and...Woody, though there are many more; however, Axel does not necessarily interact with all of them. Typically he feels that the headspace is his responsibility--mess with one of the people inside and you'll be messed with in return. In other words, Axel's the motherfucking king of the castle and you're a dirty rascal. XD

Though this Saix's past is different and he was never Isa, Axel appreciates this relationship because this is the first Saix that he has been able to become very close to. Having said that, however, Axel, at times, can come off as trying to hard not to screw up this relationship, which may get on Saix's nerves. The cultural barrier naturally makes for uneasy tension and undesirable outcomes, but the two of them remain dependent and constant for one another. Additionally, Axel finds it odd that Saix is unwilling to share their more intimate moments between their muns and why they have to be so secretive.

⚠ Warnings: One thing that should always be remembered is that he is always analyzing people regardless on if he likes them or not. Having said that, if your character wants to be friends with him, it won't be an easy task and, really, it's going to take time. Aside from him also having a bit of a temper and liking to butt his way into people's space, here are some other things to consider!

♫ What squicks him?: The thought of being alone, growing a heart, people who think they know/own everything, bad memories, being ordered around, and the words "I'll be waiting." If you bring these up anywhere, expect a negative reaction, strong or not so.
♫ Why don't you have any manga icons?: I have a "thing" with icons; they work in tandem with Axel's words and if the expression and the words don't match, well, we have a problem. That said, if you haven't noticed, many of Axel's manga faces are very...exaggerated (as they should be, I suppose) and don't match up well with the Axel I have written in my mind. So! Game!Axel is my personal choice.
♫ What about that heart of his?: Heart, what heart. You know, it's a little vague as to what "heart" Nobodies lack, but according to the Japanese kanji for "heart" they lack the ethereal heart; however, there has been no reference to the physical heart being there or not. But I figured, hey, they have pigmentation in their skin and they have to live somehow, so, yes, Axel has a physical heart, but he cannot physically feel it.
I made the choice to make Axel 'numb' to the beating heart inside him, meaning that he can't feel it or hear it, and that others shouldn't be able to do so as well. The reason for this is because I feel that his belief about not having a ethereal heart has made it so that he lacks the ability to sense his own heart's existence. Having said that, it's there, it makes him bleed and all sorts of other bodily things, but he just can't sense it.
♫ Can he fall in love with so-and-so?: This has always been a problem for me, not because I don't like the idea of Axel loving anyone, but because, ICly, he would, but not in a romantic way--at least not so easily, anyway. It's a little hard to describe, but I'll do my best.
What I think the most important thing for people to realize about Axel is that he is very guilty and it isn't so much his fear of having a heart again that keeps him from committing romantically to someone, but rather that guilt. Having said that, I think the only way that he would be able to commit himself to anyone would be if he wouldn't feel so guilty about his past and about what is happening currently in an RP. Unfortunately, he does enjoy leading people on and flirting every now and then, so it's easy for people to get the wrong impression. So basically what I'm saying is that he may show interest in someone and even display gestures of affection, but later on he'll just tell himself that, no, this isn't going to work out because he would suck as a partner. B|
♫ What's his sexual preference and experience?: I have gotten this question before and my answer--BASED on assumption--is that Axel is a bisexual. He likes both men and women and doesn't have a preference for one or the other.
Overall, though, he knows what to do. He is a controller and a 'smooth operator' by nature because his main reason for having sex would be to gain something for himself, be it pleasure or information. With Lea’s memories intact Axel also understands what feels good to his body and to others’; however, it is always a good idea to understand more. Having said that, as I mentioned before, given Axel’s level of curiosity he is into sex because he wants to know more about it. In other words, sex with Axel is presumably good, great even, and can at times feel premeditated. Call it a ‘personal mission’. Really. He’d probably write a report about it afterwards.
Going back to the subject of Lea really quickly, I want to point out that (from headcanon!) Lea was not a virgin, but Axel is, so he will be able to register lust and sexual urges seeing as they are physical feelings, but he might not be able to know what to do with them at first. The reason I say this is because (again headcanon!) Axel probably did not have time or motivation as a Nobody to devote to sex. He played with himself rarely on his own time, again, to quell some curiosity, but other than that, sex just was not possible. That and with missions and constant trips to Castle Oblivion in which other things were more important...yeah. Sex was not going to happen. However, given character development and the like, it is possible that Axel can become more used to sex and actually fall into it full swing.
♫ So, then, what does he like in a partner?: Physical attributes rank somewhere in the middle on a list of important things to consider in a partner, at least for Axel. What matters the most is first and foremost the person's heart and what makes it tick. Of course, he won't be drawn to someone who is entirely independent and has a strong will; no, he likes balance. Axel likes people who have the potential to be sensitive and fragile though at the same time tough as nails. In other words he has to be able to comfort and be there for them as well as not worry too much about when they encounter a bump in their life. He likes a genuine heart which holds it's many perfect imperfections. He can tell when a person is fake and he can tell when they're putting on an act for his sake. Though amusing, they don't impress Axel much, and if anything lowers his opinion if a person.
♫ I want him and so-and-so to interact. What does he do, exactly?: For fun? Well...that entirely depends. It's really hard to say what Axel will do next because he doesn't keep a schedule. A very go-with-the-flow-guy. Having said that, he could spend one day hanging out on the rooftops and then the next trying to learn how to swim. Basically what I'm saying is...he's not picky.
♫ Does he drink?: Yes, he does, actually. Beer, usually, but he'll take shots here and there. Anytime Axel goes out drinking he's...pretty much planning on getting wasted. But I don't think he's an obnoxious or violent drunk, at least depending on who he's with and what's going on. Typically, though? Axel's a fun drunk that just talks really fast and a lot. So! Want to get something out of him that you're curious about? Get him drunk.
♫ Does he bleed?: This has been a little difficult for me to establish. *head scratch* See, in Kingdom Hearts, NO ONE BLEEDS. There is only darkness and dark...fog that leaves someone's body when they're injured, but people like Sora don't even take physical damage at all. The Nobodies, however, do leak dark particles as they "fade" or "die" and I assume that they do the same thing when they have something as small as a paper cut or as life threatening as a slashed off leg. But because I'm going off of the headcanon idea that Axel has a beating, physical heart inside of him, I'm also saying that he has a regular blood supply; it's just a little...weaker than a normal humans. Having said that, yes, Axel bleeds, but not much, so if he's injured the most that will come out is dark particles. You may not even see the blood at all.
