[The idea of potions...

In the time that Kanda has been here, he's started to get used to the idea of curiosities. The place is full of plants, animals, technology, even styles of clothing that are completely foreign to anything known in his own world. And even being as ill-tempered and uninquisitive as he is, it is hard to find mundanity in an atmosphere that constantly assaults the senses with oddity. Anyway, he's used to having his needs provided for by the Order. All his life, the Science Department has come up with new innovations and the Exorcists have been equipped using them.

He walks over to the cart of potions without bothering to greet the Captain seated by it and lifts a yellow vial from its rack to have a look. He drops it back into place with a soft clink, not so roughly as to cause damage, then glances over to the bubbling pot, frowning at it. Only then does he finally bother to say something.]

What the hell is that?

[ His reaction is milder than what she's used to, but Ramsden wagered that that would change if he actually samples the food.

With a crooked smile, she leans in a bit closer, eyes focusing on the bubbling contents.]

That, my dear, is a very special stew. When consumed, it increases one's endurance for a short while. [ Without tilting her head, she looks up at Kanda. ] Care for a taste?

[He gives her a very severe look. By the look (and the smell) of her "stew," he suspects that the whole thing is a prank. Trick him into tasting it just for the amusement of making him sick. And Kanda hates pranks just like he hates being laughed at.]

Tch. You want me to eat that? [The question itself is rhetorical. What he's really asking is more along the lines of Are you trying to say that I'm an idiot?]

[ She can hear in his tone the disbelief. Aye, many who had never heard of the stew would utter similar responses, assuming the person offering mad, a prankster or a deluded cook.

Still, her tone is pleasant. ]

No, but you may.

[ Signius stepped up with a much more subdued reaction than Kanda, though he pokes at one of the vials idly. ]

I don't think we've been formally introduced, have we? [ He picks up a vial, swirling it in his hand. He had money on him so he wasn't really concerned about purchasing anything from her, though he was looking at the clarity of the fluid in the potion. ] Signius Dremire, at your service.

[ At your service? The last time he'd said that... ]

[ If given the opportunity, Ramsden couldn't deny that she'd probably boast about her abilities as a Biochemist, but the truth of the matter was that she really was good at her job. ]

Dremire, hmm? [ She leans back into her chair slightly, looking him over. Even if he wasn't clothed in armor, his posture would give him away as a Knight or a Crusader. ] You're one of those that are from a, ah, different Midgard than ours, aren't you? Ingram had mentioned it.

Quite. What can I say? I love my realm so much I decided I'd come see her identicle lady sister.

[ He picked up a Coldproof vial, a Concentration potion, and only then seemed to glance at the large boiling pot full of odds and ends, frowning at it slightly. ]

Lunch?

[ That particular usage of gender causes the corners of her mouth to lift slightly. A Midgardian referring to Midgard as a she? How peculiar. ]

Oh, no. You don't mean to tell me you don't know what this is? Groucho McGrumpypants had an excuse, but you- not only are you from a Midgard, but you look like a military man! Surely you've tried Immortal Stew?

[It was no use to remain on the ship when there was the opportunity to hone her own skills and reawaken the training that she felt she'd let rust up. Sure, she worked at the Swordsman Academy in Midgard, but teaching proper stances and how to lunge without loosing your balance was not exactly pushing her to the limits of her own talents. If she was going to do her part here to facilitate Rune-Midgart's victory and her own return, she was going to have to work much harder. The opportunity to loosen up on a favorite stomping ground (at least back home) would not be passed-up.

Mary waited patiently aside as other adventurer's perused the Captain's wares. Once it seemed like the crowd had thinned, she stepped forward and bowed her head slightly to the chemist.]

"I am interested in a few things, Ma'am."

[Mary indicated a few potions, especially the Coldproof Potions.]

"I'm afraid I haven't much on me. Would it be acceptable to have a tab? I would reimburse you as soon as I was able."
