Solicitations: Vacation Edition

Jun 21, 2010 03:31

Today was my first full day at the beach and I've already managed to get sunburnt. I took a long walk on the beach this morning not thinking I would need sunscreen since it was 10 AM and I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts instead of a bathing suit. I was very wrong ( Read more... )

It seems that many online commentators feel that giving Stephanie Brown a title while Cassandra Cain fades in to obscurity is a symptom of the whole marginalization of racial minorities thing that appears to be happening at DC right now. I think that's a valid point, but I can't help but love this title. I mean, Batgirl and Supergirl are going to fight 24 Draculas! 24, people!

I agree on both points--I understand what they're saying about Cassandra, but damnit, Steph is doing great as Batgirl too, so I can't bring myself to resent it. It's a fun title and She and Babs are so cool in it...

Also, that crab looks SUPER CREEPY--I agree, like a face-hugger! Spooooooky.

Maybe Cass could come back and she and Steph could be co-Batgirls?

I thought you might think I was a wimp for freaking out about the crab since you grew up close to the ocean and, I assume, have seen horseshoe crabs in the wild before. But perhaps one is never truly prepared to see a horseshoe crab.

I saw that cover of Power Girl and... well, I had had a tiny little hope of continuing to read it, but now... No, thank you!

I'm glad you're having a good time on holiday, whoo! :D

I remember a cover of the old BoP run where Manhunter was tied up to a chair screaming. I...did not approve. This is much better!

Tinyyy Kalibak!!!

I think we need a spin-off title called "Tiny Fourth World!"

Hey, lady, hey, lady, hey, lady!

Where are you vacationing? When I went to Japan, I was stoked about swimming on that side of the Sea of Japan, but THEN when my ferry docked I saw lots of little plastic baggies drifting in the water, and then some started to move. That was the first and so far only time I've seen live jellyfish swimming/floating in open water. Oh, man, I'm from Ohio, and my dad dragged us on U.S. Battlesite Vacations growing up. And guess what. People rarely fought on beaches in this country.

And by "this country" I of course mean "America", which is where my mind is RIGHT NOW.

Hi hi hi!

I'm in New Jersey! My step-dad's cousin has a house on the beach, so we're using it while they're away. Are you back in Korea?

I know how you feel. Instead of going to Myrtle Beach like NORMAL families, my parents took me to Canada to see Shakespeare plays in the summer. The ocean is a hive of scum and villainy. And jellyfish.
