I've managed to pick up another cold, I presume from the sick baby at the shelter. But you know what would make me feel better? More holiday comics!

Scanning this issue made me want to re-read 52 as I haven't read it since it was coming out. I wonder how well it holds up.

Rip Hunter's white board definitely holds up. The feat of writing and producing a 52 part story and releasing it without delays over a year is still astonishing (Yes, Countdown did it, but it did it second and was shit)

The fact that GJ Jones was able to do 52 stylistically and artistically diverse covers in a row is stunning. They're genuine works of art on their own.

There's still some really good scenes from 52. The Space Trio's story had some brilliant moments, and I still won't re-read #3031 (or whatever the Captain Comet/Lady Styx/Cube ships and Zombie takeover issue was - nightmares for a week. Genuinely ( ... )

I only read bits of 52--and stopped before Charlie became really sick--but yeah, it holds up well, I think. Alfred is remarkably cheery! (Isn't Dick supposed to be off with Bruce right now? He and Tim kind of came and went a lot, somehow...)
