The Worst Christmas Pageant Ever

Dec 12, 2007 13:30

Last Saturday, my friend Airin called me and asked if I wanted to go see a production of "A Christmas Story" by the Chillicothe Community Theater. I said yes without hesitation. It was only after we got off the phone that I was like "Wait a minute. 'A Christmas Story?' As in Ralphie and the Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range ( Read more... )

theater, racism, real life, stupidity, christmas

Ahh, bad theater. How it sucks...

It sounds like it was a horrible torture! 3 hours? whaaaa?? 3 hours of badly adapted movie? hng.. *pats* I'm glad the dinner was good, at least!

And ripped by a box office, lol. That's terrible sad, as well! I read that bit and frowned mumbling 'but.. 6 plus 6...' I would have been befuddled too :P

Here's to the shelter not being run by Granny Goodness! I hope the job is good and you have a good amount of fun :) At the very least a computer so you can write fic while the long nights stretch before you :P

*huuugs* Good luck with your GE claims!

Oh my God, it waaaaaas. I wanted to pretend to have a heart attack or something so I could get out of there. I want my three hours back! Or at least my extra six dollars.

At the very least a computer so you can write fic while the long nights stretch before you.

The director of the shelter who is not Granny Goodness told me that I could pretty much do whatever I want as long as I'm there to answer phones. So I can read, knit, and write! If there's not a computer, I'll just take a notebook with me. That's how I used to work on fic during class : P

*hugs back* I'll catch up with your fic as soon as I can!

Ah, hell, sorry to hear about the post office thing. Glad you got another potential job lined up, though! Sounds like it will indeed be better than the post office. Night shift is fun if you're a night owl. ^_^

And regarding that play... um, wow. That sounds... bloody awful O_O

By the way, our Christmas get-together will be on the 23rd around 6-ish at Regan's house. Can you make it?

I can definitely make the Christmas get-together, although I will need directions to Regan's house! Do I need to bring anything? Gift for exchange? Food? Booze?

The play was awful. I was happy to see Airin, but my God! That's three hours of my life I will never get back. And we over-paid for it!

I'll let you know if the shelter job works out!

We've not talked about a gift exchange... as for booze, I think it'll just be a non-booze get-together since I'm pretty sure her daughter will be there. Rats. ^_~

I'll have to get directions to Regan's house too--I know she's on Cooks Hill Rd still... but I'm not even sure the get-together is still there; Regan's house had a fire! An electrical fire that didn't do too much damage, thankfully. I'll try to catch her tomorrow and get more info, then pass it along to you ^_^

Ha ha! Yeah, I'm pretty sure Regan doesn't want us acting like drunken idiots around her daughter. ^_^

Oh my goodness! I hope everything's okay.

Thank you! ^_^

Oh god, that play sounds terrible!! And you overpaid for it!

I'm sorry the post office job fell though, but yay for another one! It sounds better than the post office job, anyway. Especially if you can work on fic. :)

Talk about adding insult to injury >_<

I agree. The director told me that the shelter actually gets less busy at Christmas (people are less prone to abusing each other during the holidays?), so I should have plenty of writing time : )

Well, on the plus side, your description of the "Ra ra ra ra ra"s has made me laugh, so there's some benefit gained from it!

Airin paid for the tickets (I paid for dinner) and we entered the auditorium. It wasn't until we were seated that we were like "Hey! Six plus six is twelve, not eighteen!" There wasn't much we could do about it at that point, however. I expressed the thought that maybe it was a test to see if we were really students. Like, could we do math? Obviously, we failed.

ROFL! Ohhhh, oh, that's great! And your whole description of the play was brilliant. You have brought me joy through your pain, and is that not truly the message of this holiday season?

It's not?

Oh.

*coughs* Anyway, thank you!

Thank you! Through much of the play, I was sitting and thinking "Well, at least I can get a funny LJ entry out of this." That's my blogging zen approach to life.

Anyway, I'm glad I could make you laugh! Your Dentist Jaime icon brings me much joy : )
