Exclusive Set Photos From The Dark Knight!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the actors. However, I almost got my camera confiscated just taking these! OH NO! SHE SAW THE GREEN SCREENS! Luckily, my uncle was able to run interference while I ran away.

We were actually lost getting into Chicago, looking for a specific parking garage. There were all these trailers blocking part of the road and my cousin Katie yelled "It says RFK!", which is the code name for The Dark Knight. It turns out that they were filming in the same building as our parking garage!

This was in the lobby:

I knew that Christopher Nolan likes to film after dark, so I planned to return later that night. Katie loves Christian Bale and agreed to come with me. We went back to the parking garage building (a.k.a. 111 Wacker) after dinner and found that they had set up a bunch of lights and green screens. There was a big security perimeter set up, but we managed to get pretty close because of an old guard who seemed pretty laissez-faire. There was a little boy and his grandmother and a couple from New York watching with us. The guy from the couple let me know that they were filming a scene that was in the interior of Wayne Manor. Suddenly, we could see Christian Bale through the glass door! And wow, he's really short.

He was doing the Bruce Wayne thing, pretending to yawn, smoothing back his hair, flirting with three women at once. It was awesome to watch.

We could see Michael Caine too, in his Alfred costume, watching the filming. He eventually came outside and walked right in front of us. I may be kind of pathetic, but I thought it was so cool!

We were chased away by a meaner security guard about half an hour later, but they called a wrap on the scene as we were walking away.

The next day, I dragged my family back to the set to try and get some pictures. I got these before being run off again:

It's not much, but you can see the spiral staircase in the first one.

We also went on a river cruise and saw what looked like a set facade being built along the river:

Scene at the Gotham docks, perhaps?

And just because:

Katie sat on my sunglasses later that day and broke them.
