The Snow Queen, final episode

I can't believe I'm actually finishing yet another series! I'm very good at starting doramas, but sometimes my attention just wanders off and finishing them is sometimes a bit harder. Especially when watching them on tinyscreenland, i.e. Youtube.

*sniff* Tae-Woong changed his wish from a marriage proposal into asking her never to leave him again. But it's inevitable that she will...

Bo-Ra is feeling like a burden, because Tae-Woong is devoting all his time and energy for her. He even refused a very good offer to study abroad. T-W is clearly in denial. He won't even accept the possibility of Bo-Ra dying and says to her that it will only make him furious if he hears her say that she only has a few days left.

Bo-Ra's illness seems to be bringing T-W and her father closer. The father is now apologizing to T-W for blaming him for the past. He feels that everything is his fault, but T-W tries to comfort him and reassure him that Bo-Ra will wake up and smile again.

T-W is so patient and caring when he's looking after Bo-Ra. Their love seems somehow so pure all the time. I loved the scene where she asked if she could sleep by his side after she had a nightmare where she couldn't find him.

This final episode is feeling very bittersweet, but I like it that it's no huge weepfest, like, for example, the final episode of Silence was. It's inevitable how this will end, but there are still plenty of quiet and tender moments between Bo-Ra and Tae-Woong before the end. It all feels very real, there is no need for any OTT drama to make it very effective. I loved how she just quietly went to sleep and never woke up.

And T-W is continuing his life after her death. It didn't crush him, because he had all that time in which to say goodbye to her and to prepare for the end. I think part of what made him so devastated about Jang-Gyu's death was that is was so sudden and shocking, and he felt he was to blame for it. This time there is no need for guilt.

I knew it! She left him a final message through her beeper. She's urging him to live on and not to run away. Even though it feels hard, he must keep his eyes open and continue on, because they will meet again in some other life. And she's repeating the words he said to her when she was about to throw herself off the cliff: "It's better to live."

And the end scene was just perfect.

This was a wonderful drama, I really loved it. Hyun Bin and Sung Yu Ri did a wonderful job as Tae-Woong and Bo-Ra. The cinematography was very beautiful and the pacing of the story was excellent. There was no mid-season slump unlike in many other dramas, the story kept going forward all the time. I very much recommend this to all the dorama fans on my f-list!
