Best In The World?
I'm back at the draft table. An 8-4 draft again, looking forward to a weekend of online Magic fun and no bathing.

Glad to hear that one of us still has a clue when it comes to this silly game. Are you one the fast track to San Diego, perhaps with Krakower in tow?

I have to admit, it was a good draft in that sense.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get qualified for San Diego. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the format - the one game only thing drives me crazy. I don't want to try to PTQs when it feels so random at times, though losing is a lot easier when you have a teammate to share it with.

Have you tried it with the new starting life total of 30 yet? Even worse.

I actually prefer the 30 life as it feels like a bit more like normal Magic game. Smaller creatures make a difference so, in theory, you're not totally screwed if you don't have lots of huge bombs.
But I still want best 2 out of 3. In that sense, 30 life is worse as it makes the game a bit more random. Recovering from slow starts is harder and there's less time to find answers to the big threats. All in all, I'm not going to the Rochester PTQ next weekend because 6 hours of driving really sucks when you open up mediocre/crap cards and can't lose a match until the final 2-3 rounds.
