...along with the drug part, I would also say that reading *reinforces a part of your ego image*, and so in keeping with the rest of what he said, then it is a material that fulfills that need for reinforcement and substantiation...I would say, though, that in certain genre things (like I get into some of the 'paranormal' romances or mysteries etc. now and again), there is a fine line between doing what he says not to, that which has been done before, and tailoring the drug to hit the same resonances in your own way...for me the feeling of the book or story is more important that the guy or lady doing this or that action or career path or sex move, etc....
