Love the excerpt!

For me, the heroes I start off thinking are going to be unsexy are ones who do a job that I associate with my male relatives, which sucks because my brother has had loads of sexy jobs - firefighter and chef and he was obsessed with becoming an Navy SEAL when he was in high school. *sigh*

So I usually avoid those heroes, but I couldn't resist Stephanie Tyler's Hard to Hold, which was awesome.

I was surprised by the setup in Phyllida and the Brotherhood of Philander, for sure. I still kind of can't believe the author made that one work ...

PS: Obviously you enjoy writing about characters with unusual careers for a romance novel. And I loved the hell out of the class dynamics in Start Me Up and Lead Me On. So may I ask plaintively for more books with blue-collar characters?

Robyn Carr and Victoria Dahl? Two of my favorite authors... how could I possibly resist? But wait! The name of an author I have never heard of?! I simply must look up Jean Brashear! =)

This looks fabulous! ext_275296 October 4 2010, 20:49:22 UTC
Lorraine Heath's Just Wicked Enough had a hero who seemed weak (no money, no power - only a title to earn him a marriage), had been an a-hole in the previous book, and had no idea how to show emotions. But he turned out to be wonderful for exactly those reasons. I love it when an author can turn the weaknesses into strengths.

Commenting for maximum awesome.

And then hitting the wrong keys before finishing my comment for slightly less awesome.

Since I'm still tragically not as versed in romance as I could be, so I'm mostly just saying that this looks intriguing.
