I like the way you've been able to review multiple performances, and give us a sense of each, because definitely, every performance will have its own personality
( ... )
I definitely liked the first concert the most, because it was so unexpected. I couldn't believe I was there, he looked like he didn't either, and so was the whole venue. There was a sense of awe and a giddiness that seems lower this year.
And yes, he is a great pretender. Better be voluntarily clumsy than just an average dancer, too.

V, this is great! As a performer myself, I can understand him implicitly if he was a bit anxious to start on time. Twenty minutes, when it isn't your fault, is a lot of time for a performer to wait. Frankly, I would appreciate his displeasure, but in a pure professional sarcastic way.
The very fact that he shared his knowledge of the music with the audience is a testament to him in allowing the audience to experience why the music he performs appeals to him.
Looking closer, he is perfectly in rhythm even if it could not seem so
This has impressed me. Every clip I've seen of the Junco Partner dancing, he's arrived at the microphone on time & with the proper breath to sing in tune. And all the steps in between - really every physical accent - is perfectly in rhythm.
I'd be pissed too if the show didn't start until near 11p. Even if you're expecting to start a 2hr task late at night, it still screws with your preparation throughout the day. And then you've got to sit around waiting some more... Plus who knows when they had to leave for Barcelona?
Another thing I think I've noticed from the clips is Kevin getting more rhythmically and harmonically adventurous with his lead-ins to Hugh's verses, just assuming that Hugh won't be thrown off course. Perhaps those of you who've attended more shows will have a better feel for that.
It cheers me up to be reminded that I'm not the only one who finds inconsiderate, rude and noisy people extremely annoying.
There is some good info about James Booker in the CD booklet for Resurrection of the Bayou Maharajah. There might also be some in the booklet for Spiders on the Keys (the companion CD for RotBM) but I don't have that one.
