Nesting: the Nursery

It is a peculiar sort of day, threatening clouds alternating with a cheerful sunshine, and overall unseasonably warm. All the windows (barring the ground floor and the greenhouse, for obvious reasons) were open, letting what passes for fresh air in the city of Boston to clear out some of the winter funk. Hans is, in fact, fairly certain that Ali is somewhere in there. He's quite good at finding her when he wants to, almost as though he had a sixth, Ali detecting sense. It comes in handy every now and then.

Though to him, the nursery, especially with the fabric and paint samples, is the very definition of chaos, and this is coming from a man who was flown through a sky full of smoke and noise and bullets. Who knew domestic like could be so much more frightening than warfare?

He smiles to himself as he enters, clearing his throat slightly to announce his presence. "Do you need assistance, my love?"

Ali looks up from her very careful study of a handful of paint chips so similarly colored he might not see any difference. Seeing Hans, she smiles, pushing things out of her lap and climbing to her feet to hug him.

"Ah, liebling. I would adore company."

Hugs are quite good and quite quickly and freely given.

"Then I would be happy to give you some," he says. "Though I must confess, my skills are decoration are... somewhat lacking."

"That's okay." Ali waits for him to sit so she can curl up in his lap. "You can help me decide the broad issues, and I'll deal with the details."
