The Butterfly Queen's Bounty

In a great big comfy chair in the Nexus, near her door, Ali's in costume as a monarch butterfly and reading a book. Her companion for the wait is a honeybee better known as Alured. Spread out on a table just out of Alured's reach are the treats for sweet-seekers.

Ali's treats this year are flower "pots" with secret compartments inside, lustered

Soon, there comes a rather familiar looking face. Though he's either in a costume, or it's one of those alternates. However, he stops when he sees the door and calls out, trying to get out of sight as well.

"Trick or treat!"

Ali looks up at the call, looking around curiously. Alured looks around too.

"Hmm, Alured, I think we have an invisible trick or treater. Do you think we should give candy to spirits and ghosts?" Alured laughs, either at the idea or the silly face Ali's making at him. "Well, if you're sure."

Looking around again with a grin, Ali calls back, "We've decided only people in costumes get candy, sorry invisible person!"

Ed steps out of hiding and waves, grinning widely. "Hey there."

"Hello darling." Ali grins back. "You know, if you keep showing up only for food, I'm going to start thinking you don't like me very much."

Here comes another trick-or-treater, for it is Jubilation Lee approaching in her costume. Tonight, Jubes is dressed as Lulu from Final Fantasy. After a moment, she knocks and calls out "Treat!"

Ali looks over at Jubes, wondering why she's knocking on the door when Ali's sitting right there.

Then her costume gets a second look. That's certainly...interesting.

"Candy's over here, darling."

[in_jubilation]

Because it is still polite to knock, even on Halloween.

Jubes gives Ali a smile, approaching the candy area, "Wow, that is a nice costume."

"Thank you. So is yours." She smiles, picking up one of the flowerpots and offering it to Jubes. "Enjoy!"

[googly_eyed_god]

Along wanders a little Norse god in a horned mask and red jumpsuit. That's right, Hod's dressed as Daredevil for the day. "Trick or treat!"

Ali smiles brightly when she sees Hod. "Oh look Alured, we've got a superhero here! I know it sounds like Hod, but it's really Daredevil."

Alured thinks this is a splendid thing. He likes Hod.

"Would you like some candy, Daredevil?"

And Hod likes Alured. Beaming, Hod strikes a few silly Daredevil-ish poses (admittedly facing the wrong way for several of them). "Hi Ali, hi Alured! Happy Halloween!"

"Happy Samhain, darling," she responds while gently ushering Hod up into her lap for hugs. Once he's settled there, he gets his treats. "I hope you like everything. Most of it is chocolate, but the candies in the waxy paper are honey."

*And here, THNMY allowing, is the captain. He, too, is dressed for Halloween - one supposes...the amounts of lace, fur, gold and jewels are about the same as usual, but instead of a hat, he's wearing a crown. King for a day...*

Ali smiles and gives a half-bow to the King. "Look, Alured, it's King Jas the Shiny."

Alured squeals and reaches for Jas, ever the loving stepson.

*The King gives an ironic half-bow in return, the memories awoken by being called "King Jas" making him half-smile. The crown is ludicrous. It looks far too heavy to be true, and sparkles mercilessly like a gathering of tiny stars*

Good day, my dear. *he turns slightly* Alured.

"And to what do we owe the pleasure of a royal visit?"
