Lead to war? *raises eyebrow, then it lowers as he looks at her, realizing for the first time he really doesn't know anything about her at all*

"Not that I want to start wars. Or fight in them. I prefer peace. But I can't really have that...so I try to at least keep other people out of the fighting when I can." She wraps a curl around her fingers as she continues to ramble nervously. "I mean, normally I prefer to lead by example but why get other people killed when I can make sure I'm the only one in danger?"

*gives a look on his face that means he's starting to zone out at those first words as he thinks of his own battles*

Which is all for the best, really. Eventually she stops talking, and nudges his arm.

"Sweetheart? Have you had any rest lately?"

*jumps* W-What? Rest? Aa, sure...

"You're jumpy. Is there anything I can do?"

*a small laugh as he gives her a helpless look* I came to help you and it turns on me... that's so pathetic.

"No, this is me attempting to get over myself."

"It's a good philosophy. And you know what they say, we go into life with the philosophies we have, not the ones we'd like to have."
