Memories of Waking

There are traditions, and then there are Traditions: the former, the little rituals that develop in a life, personal and unique; the latter, the sort that everybody knows and understands to be important without quite knowing why. Ali had a number of both, but today, her Chrysalis-Day party, is firmly rooted in the former. In the few years she's ( Read more... )

*The captain, who in many ways is a very traditional man and in a few specialised other ways extremely anarchic, nevertheless appreciates the value of little rituals. He can often seem unforgiving of the foibles of others, but today he's willing to be more than accomodating.

He's even brought a present. There's a flat, carved wooden box under his arm: and with his mane of black curls and gold earrings, he'll fit in with the gypsy theme well enough...*

Ali hasn't even thought of what a good accessory he'd make job fitting in he'd do. But she does look mighty pleased to see him, nudging the kittens who had come to play out of her lap so she can hug him.

"Hello love. Thank you for coming."

*He watches the tumbling spill of dislodged kittens as he sets down the box and allows himself to be hugged*

It is my pleasure. I see as always you are enjoying your costume.

She nods, pushing his arms around her a bit to try and remind him to hug her.

"How're you today?"

"Ali-san, you look lovely..." Fay gives her a hug, beaming. "Are you having a good Chrysalis-Day?"

"Doing very well." He holds out a wrapped present proudly, presenting it to her much like a small child would an arts-and-crafts to his mother.

She smiles brightly, taking the present. "For me? Thank you!"

She sits, pulling him into her lap for cuddling while she opens the gift.

Rituals have long been an integral part of Sasha's life, and she holds a deep respect for the ones Ali holds. Traditions like Chrysalis Day, she also quite enjoys, and this year is to be no exception. Smiling, she carries in a sizable gift; as tall as she, herself, a cylinder shrouded in lustrous gold wrapping paper and wrapped in a ribbon surmounted by a bow. She sets it down somewhere out of the way (the kittens decide to guard it), waiting for Ali to have a free moment before closing in for kisses and hugs. "Happy Chrysalis Day, my darling, my heart."

There are hugs and kisses aplenty for her Sasha. "Thank you, beloved."

"Mmm, you're so wonderful, my love, and so welcome." The pale woman beams upon her wife, before going to fetch the gift she carried in.

"That's a big present!" Ali still manages to get it open though, once she's got it leaned up against something.
