It's just different, mkay. Momo knows damn well she couldn't fix Matsu, but she was going through the OH FUCK OH FUCK situation. Hacchi will fix her, but never in Bleach has it been explicitly stated

SHE WILL DIE IF SHE DOESN'T GET HELP 4 MINUTES AGO

And then they lay there hacking. Uryu didn't have his most important innards removed, Szayel just wanted him for experiments. Renji has Unohana to heal him. And quite frankly.. NO ONE in bleach but MAYURI has had this bad happen to them!

Oh, I know! I do totally agree that this is more or less a new one for Bleach and more serious than all the "BLAHHH SHOUNEN OHAI EVERYONE'S DEAD OWAIT THEY'RE NOT LOL" kind of crap before. I never said I didn't. :3 And points to Kubo for actually going there, even if it is all EXTREMELY do not want; but I just don't think it means she's actually going to get killed off. (At least, not at this point in canon, anyway.)

Yeah I agree with you that Matsumoto is going to be plotkai kendod out of this. UNLESS.

Consider this, Hacchi and Orihime have the same power right? Well consider the vizards don't get there in time, and Matsumoto dies. No big, Hacchi brings back her stomach. In theory WE HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS IN BLEACH. Menolly was totally blown away, Orihime brought her back to life because she restored the vital organs missing from her. Matsumoto will die because she can't breath, not something due to the injury. If her stomach was brought back and she already died I think she'd stay DEAD because it wasn't what caused her immediate death. Menolly was dissinegrated. Everyone else in Bleach was near death or severely injured but Orihime fixed them before death. She can reject an event, not bring back a life. So I'm curious to see how this goes!

...I think you can argue that both ways, though? Even if she suffocates and dies from that, the loss of the organs is still technically the cause, because that was what prevented her from getting air in the first place. Ergo, with her innards restored, the problem could still be solved.

So like I said, you can probably make a case for it either way. I'm really curious to see how it goes, too; hopefully Kubo will use this as an opportunity to explain a little better just how these powers actually work.

I. Fucking. Loved. This. Chapter.
Not only did Kubo provide us with this thing (which is even more than disturbing. I feel exactly like Rangiku felt when she was staring at it. I couldn't tear my eyes off this monster. It's PERFECT. Its image will haunt me forever but I'm not complaining.), but also with serious injuries and I'm irrevocably grateful for that. ^__^

Now I'm really looking forward to seeing those guys beating this thing up.

I AM JUST SO FUCKING TRAUMATISED WTF. XDDD ITS EYE SOCKETS OH MY GOD I COULD NOT STOP STARING EITHER. WHATEVER THE HELL KUBO WAS ON WHEN HE DREW THAT, I WOULD NOT TOUCH WITH A TWENTY-YARD POLE.

Seconded to the max.

I think I know why that thing is so terrifying.
It reminds me of Pyramid Head.
