At Chicago Con, Misha said he had a feeling Jimmy was still alive. Did he have the script for this episode yet? Misha told me and littlehollyleaf that Jimmy is still alive. They'd just finished filming this ep when we met him back in November
OK. You made me appreciate the episode. I was having trouble with it, between the grossness (even though it made me totally want a burger, WTF?) and the desperate sadness and the fact that there's so little good vidding imagery because Cas is always stuffing his face!! (Even if it was fun to see him indulge in desire and pleasure...)
But yes, this pic-narration totally helped me feel more at peace with the episode.
Mostly I'm just sour that we have to wait over a month for more!!!
This review is making me laugh so hard. I love you so much. You have no idea.
But I'm breaking for a quick second to say: Personally, I'm coming down on the "Jimmy's still alive" theory, and I'm coming down on that side pretty hard. I'm not going to deny something just because it's convenient for fanon purposes, guys. THIS, THANK YOU. ;____; I was all \o/!!! about Jimmy still being alive (although I feel so bad for him), but when I saw it being handwaved everywhere I was like, oh, poop. D= I understand why people want to do it, I do, but still. Thank you. *HUGS*
DDDDDD= The end of this review! AUGH. I gotta be honest - I did an itty-bitty bit of eye-rolling when Famine told Dean he was dead inside. I was like, okaaaaaaay yes we've established this. I try not to get down on Show for anvils - I realize that there are 1.5 million viewers that don't regularly troll the internet for every meta and picspam ever, so they might need Show to remind them often how fucked-up Dean and Sam are, but I felt like this was overkill. But I really respect your opinion on the depression/codependency/mental issues of the Winchesters, so you're making me see this in a new light and I really appreciate it.
The parallels to 4.21 and 4.16 in this episode just took my breath away.
As to the rest of the episode - and your review - I laughed so hard I nearly cried. =DDD and yes to Castiel and the wardrobe! I freaked out. It was a wonderful, jarring reminder of Castiel's inhumanity in the midst of an episode where Castiel is so very human.
I really see Dean as having been on a roller coaster for the past year. In 4.10 and 4.16 he seemed like he was at the end of his rope (wanting to give up his feeling), but then in 4.22 Dean seemed like he made a bit of break-through (he wants the pain and the guilt and suffering because it means he's alive). In 5.10 you can see him take a major slide down, which is why I wound up changing my mind on liking the ending of that episode. But that downward spiral is never actually voiced, and now he's more broken than ever.

And all we need to do is find a song about hamburgers for possible vids. :D

I don't care if people handwave it for fic purposes (fanfic is all about creative liberties, after all), but to handwave it in canon makes me itchy.
