Out of curiosity, why do you think 14 songs is too many? I'm interested, because everyone I know hates when they buy a 10 or 12 song, half hour album. I'd way rather wait an extra year or two for new experiences to inspire new songs than buy something with just a few tracks.
I think it's because I'm a fan of the "album" rather than the "single," which is what the music industry has shifted to. (I'm also a fan of the 45-minute long album because I still have the mindset of transferring stuff to cassette tapes - with 45 minute long albums, you take up one side of a 90 minute tape. That's a different story, though. XD) I'd much rather buy an album that has 8-10 absolutely incredible tracks than an album that has several shit tracks that I'll skip over. I love albums that are crafted carefully from beginning to end, with a lot of thought put into each track and where each track is placed in relation to the others.
Since the requirement of this challenge is to write 14 songs rather than a strong 45 minute long album, I think I'll probably just be writing a collection of singles. :-/
Some of the greatest albums of all time only have 8 songs. :)
