I'm trying to compile a post of RSS information for the various journaling sites everyone is scattering to. They're all different, and InsaneJournal's RSS features are just... weird. Period

Well, considering this is their response to people having questionable links on his/her LJ, I imagine anyone subscribed to a questionable RSS is going to get bitch-slapped just the same.
Feeds are different from links, though. According to LJ's FAQ: "Syndicated accounts are not owned by anyone; they automatically collect content from the source feed. You cannot log into a syndicated account, nor can syndicated accounts be deleted or renamed."
They're public, any paid user can create one, and no one owns them. A person may own the website it's originating from, but the feeds coming from it are a different story. I don't see how 6A could hold someone responsible simply for being subscribed to a questionable feed; it'd kinda be like if they decided to suspend every user of pornish_pixies.
I think I might have discovered a very large loophole.

At the rate 6A's going, they might just get there. Sounds like you're on to something to me...though I wouldn't put it past 6A to duck tape over loopholes with vague and flimsy excuses, "We may or may not delete you... Do you feel lucky, punk?"
"We may or may not delete you... Do you feel lucky, punk?" *LOL* That's a wonderful way to put it. It's exactly the impression I got. It should be LJ's new motto.
If I read your comment above correctly if we use RSS feeds we'd still have to be paid members and once my paid time runs out I don't want to give them anymore money. :(
As it is though this info completely baffles me. I tried reading yourlibrarian's post on it over at fandom_flies and the brain just couldn't grasp the info. I'm taking solace in the fact that I just learned how to use Avisynth for vidding and like whoa with the learning curve. Apparently my brain needs a break. *lol*
I'm working on trying to explain it - typing it up right now.
Well, right NOW I'm obviously typing this comment, but I was typing it right before and I'm going right back to it. ;-P
Sadly, LJ's RSS system is the best, but they're the ones we don't want to give anymore money to. I DID figure out some of the issues I was running into. Not all of them (I've got support requests open on three separate sites right now because none of them have all the information I need), but...
Hopefully it'll be posted tonight. Looking like it's going to be a five parter. O_o
Oh, yeah. AND: you don't have to be a paid user to SUBSCRIBE to a feed, but you must be a paid user to CREATE a feed. I'll explain this in more detail in my posts-of-doom.
