My outstanding student

There's a particularly bad student in my E&M lab. He asks the stupidest, most random questions. Tonight when I was explaining how to take data he asked an exceptionally nonsensical question. I leaned over the lab table, squinted into his bloodshot eyes, and said, "Do you come to lab stoned? Because that would explain a lot."

That's AWESOME. I need to teach at that level.

Best I can say is something like this (from today, to an 8th grader)... "being cute will only get you so far. at some point you're going to actually have to do some work... you aren't going to get into college on your good looks."
