It was several hours before V awoke again, somewhat groggy but feeling immensely better than he had been. The nausea and dizziness were gone, and the pain was almost unnoticable. He sat up looked about the room, vaguely remembering Snape and Some having been there.

But they weren't there now. The gallery was silent, utterly so.

He slid out of the bed, realising that he was clad in his trousers and nothing else. That wouldn't do at all. Donning the rest of his clothing, including the wig and mask (and feeling much better already for having done so), V left the room to find out why it was so quiet. It had been veritably crowded earlier.

Meredith was sitting on the couch in the main room with her book. She heard him come out. "They left," she said flatly, not looking up. "Feeling better?"

"Much," V answered. Indeed, he almost seemed like his old self again, though he still moved rather more slowly than normal. He sat in a nearby chair and leaned back in it, watching her placidly. "Hm. I shall have to find Mister Snape soon, though. I've a feeling the price for his services has probably increased markedly."
